In this work, the 70-year-old actor will play an archaeologist who discovers a powerful jade artifact, taking himself and the student he teaches back to the chaotic period of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-24 AD).
The assistant role in this work will be played by pop star Zhang Yixing (Lay Zhang). He is currently a favorite name in the country of a billion people, having appeared in famous films such as No More Bets (2023) or Kung Fu Yoga (2017) - also starring Jackie Chan.

At a press conference at the Shanghai International Film Festival this week, the producers said the highlight of the film is the use of AI technology to recreate the 27-year-old version of Jackie Chan. Other elements such as the large-scale horse-riding army and thousands of soldiers in desert locations... will be filmed for real in Xinjiang without the use of CGI or any technology.
In addition to Jackie Chan's work, this event also revealed that Bona Film Group will be the marketing and distribution partner in China for the adventure film about the cartoon character Paddington bear, Paddington in Peru, with the participation of many famous stars such as Olivia Colman, Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer...
Another highly anticipated film is A Dream of Red Mansions , an adaptation of the country’s classic novel Dream of the Red Chamber . Set for release in July, it is directed by Hu Mei from a screenplay adapted by He Yanjiang. Production began in 2017, but was interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Over the years, Chan has continued to be a box office draw in both Chinese and international cinemas. His most recent film, Ride On, which revolves around stuntmen, topped the mainland box office for two weeks and grossed more than $37 million.
