At the meeting, the Vice President thanked the Norwegian side for their warm welcome to him and his delegation; was delighted to visit Norway and expressed his impression of the development of Norway, a country with a high quality of life and comprehensive social policies. Pleased to meet Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Minister of Culture and Equality Lubna Jaffery affirmed that the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Norway are developing very well and believes that the Vice President's visit will be a great success. Minister Lubna Jaffery said that although she has not visited Vietnam, she has had many opportunities to meet with the Vietnamese community, so she has special feelings for the people and culture of Vietnam. Discussing the issue of gender equality, Minister Lubna Jaffery emphasized that Norway and Vietnam are both countries with strong commitments to promoting gender equality. Norway is a world leader and has implemented many policies, including the Gender Equality Strategy with a focus on ensuring education, gender safety in cyberspace, women's health, and violence prevention. Norway has also established a Gender Equality Committee by 2022. The Minister hopes that Norway and Vietnam will strengthen cooperation in this field, bringing equality to the people of the two countries and continue to cooperate effectively in this field at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations. Congratulating Norway on its achievements in the field of gender equality, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that gender equality is an inevitable development trend of society, aiming to create conditions for women to participate equally in all aspects of
political , economic, and social life. The Vice President said that in the historical process of building and developing the country, Vietnamese women have made many important contributions. The State and Government of Vietnam always emphasize the role of women. The State's policies and laws create conditions for Vietnamese women to promote their roles and participate in all areas of society. Currently, despite many challenges, Vietnam always pays attention to and implements appropriate social policies for people in disadvantaged areas, remote areas, especially for women. Vietnam also issued this Law early in 2006 and is currently implementing the National Strategy on Gender Equality 2021 - 2030. The positive results in Vietnam's gender equality work have contributed to supporting Vietnam to successfully implement the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan said that in order to achieve socio-economic development goals, Vietnam hopes to have cooperation and support from international friends, including Norway, on the issue of gender equality. Through development cooperation projects, Norway can share its experience in policy making, improve human resource capacity, and provide financial support, especially in remote areas of Vietnam. Based on practical cooperation activities in recent times, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation in the fields of culture, education, sports, tourism and people-to-people exchange, thereby contributing to increasing mutual understanding and promoting the positive development of the Vietnam-Norway bilateral relationship. Expressing his impression of Vietnam's outstanding achievements in gender equality, the Norwegian Minister of Culture and Equality agreed with the Vice President on the potential for cooperation between the two countries in many fields and affirmed that he would actively support Vietnam in the field of gender equality.
