Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan holds talks with Deputy Emir of Qatar

Within the framework of the official visit to the State of Qatar from May 6-8, on the morning of May 7 (local time), Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan held talks with Deputy Emir of Qatar Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Thani.

At the meeting, Qatar's Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Thani welcomed the visit of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, assessing this as an important event taking place on the occasion of the two countries celebrating 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations (1993-2023).

Expressing her joy at visiting the beautiful and hospitable country of Qatar, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan thanked Deputy King Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Thani for the warm and respectful reception given to the delegation, and expressed her impression of Qatar's achievements in implementing the national strategy "Vision 2030."

At the talks, the two sides informed each other about the economic, political and social situation in each country, affirming their desire and determination to further promote the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar, for the common interests of the people of the two countries.

On that basis, the two sides agreed to continue to strengthen good political and diplomatic relations through further enhancing exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations.

On this occasion, the Vice President conveyed the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani to visit Vietnam in 2023. The Vice President invited the Deputy Emir of Qatar Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Thani to visit Vietnam at a suitable time.

The two sides also agreed to coordinate in organizing cultural, sports and artistic exchange events, especially on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, thereby contributing to increasing mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.

Regarding economic cooperation, the two leaders said that the two countries still have a lot of potential to promote cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, etc. The two sides agreed to coordinate in organizing investment and trade promotion events and business forums in the coming time.

To create a breakthrough for trade cooperation, the Vice President suggested that Qatar create conditions for Vietnam's export products with strengths such as agricultural products, seafood, processed foods, etc. to access distribution channels and large supermarket systems in Qatar to increase turnover and balance the trade balance between the two countries; share experiences and support Vietnam in building a financial center, a Halal certification center, etc. to better meet the conditions and standards of the Qatari market.

Deputy Emir of Qatar Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Thani affirmed that the State of Qatar prioritizes enhancing trade, investment and agricultural cooperation with Vietnam, expressing his wish that the two sides exchange experiences in areas of strength such as energy, education-training and agriculture.

In the field of investment, the two sides identified this as a priority area of ​​cooperation in the coming time, agreeing to further improve the effectiveness of cooperation between funds and investment enterprises of each country in potential areas such as infrastructure, transportation, seaports, renewable energy, etc.

In the tourism sector, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that Vietnam wishes to welcome more tourists from Qatar and the Gulf region in the coming time.

The two sides also discussed specific measures to promote cooperation in other potential areas such as skilled labor, energy, agriculture, education, green growth, and climate change response.

In order for the above measures to be implemented soon, the two sides agreed to prepare well and soon organize the third meeting of the Vietnam-Qatar Joint Committee; promote negotiations and sign bilateral cooperation agreements to perfect the legal framework for multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

On this occasion, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan thanked Qatar for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Qatar to integrate well, stabilize their lives and work and study with peace of mind, thereby contributing to enhancing mutual understanding and promoting the role of a bridge to promote exchange and cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, also on May 7, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan received Qatari Minister of Industry and Trade Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani. At the meeting, both sides highly appreciated the potential and expressed their desire to further enhance the effectiveness of Vietnam-Qatar economic cooperation.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan suggested that the Minister of Industry and Trade of Qatar, in his capacity as Chair of the sub-committee of the Vietnam-Qatar Joint Committee, coordinate with the Vietnamese side to soon organize the third meeting of the Joint Committee to review and enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields; create favorable conditions for Vietnam's key export products such as agriculture, seafood, garments, etc. to access the Qatari market; suggest that the Qatari side facilitate energy enterprises of the two countries to enhance cooperation in the field of importing Qatari gas; study the diversification and expansion of investment forms and create favorable conditions for enterprises of the two countries to participate in cooperation projects; review and perfect the legal framework to facilitate bilateral cooperation./.
