Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh inspects Gia Bac Pass.

On the morning of October 31st, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh, along with a delegation, directly visited the Gia Bac Pass (National Highway 28, the section passing through Son Dien commune) to inspect and direct the work of khắc phục the serious landslides caused by prolonged heavy rain.

According to Mr. Vu Duc Nhuan, Chairman of the Son Dien Commune People's Committee, after many tireless efforts, by 6:30 this morning, the functional forces had basically completed clearing hundreds of tons of soil and rocks along with a large number of fallen trees at more than 12 landslide sites.

As a result, Gia Bac Pass has been officially reopened, and vehicles on National Highway 28 are allowed to resume normal traffic in both directions.

Local authorities advise drivers to drive carefully and follow instructions to avoid risks.

Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh surveyed areas with severely eroded embankments and listened to reports on the progress of addressing subsidence and reinforcing slopes.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the need to prioritize long-term solutions such as geological exploration drilling and drainage system improvement to prevent landslides from recurring, while also strengthening the 24/7 emergency response force.

The sunny weather this morning has greatly assisted in completely clearing the landslide areas.

Currently, Son Dien commune is deploying police and militia forces to coordinate with road management units to closely monitor, reroute traffic, and warn drivers, especially those with heavy trucks, about potential risks.

Efforts are being actively made to repair the landslides on Gia Bac Pass.

Gia Bac Pass is over 10 km long, connecting Son Dien commune with Ham Thuan Bac commune to National Highway 1A; at the same time, it connects in the opposite direction to National Highway 20 leading to Da Lat and Ho Chi Minh City.
