Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son sent a congratulatory letter to the Philippine Foreign Minister.

On the occasion of Ms. Maria Theresa Lazaro's appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, on July 4, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son sent a congratulatory letter.

On July 1, Ms. Maria Theresa Lazaro was sworn in as Minister of the Philippines before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr..

On this occasion, the President also presented her with the Order of Sikatuna in recognition of her dedicated and exceptional contributions to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , as well as her outstanding leadership in both bilateral and multilateral diplomacy.

According to the Manila Times , Ms. Lazaro succeeds Mr. Enrique Manalo, former Foreign Minister, who will assume the role of Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations starting August 1.

With her new position, Ms. Maria Theresa Lazaro will become the second female Foreign Minister in the history of the Philippines, after Ms. Delia Domingo Albert - who held this position in 2003.
