At the experiential activity, Giay ethnic artisans from Coc San commune introduced the origin, meaning and uses of the traditional bamboo rice dish.

Bamboo rice is a rustic dish closely associated with the lives of the Giay ethnic group and other ethnic groups in the Northwest mountains, demonstrating creativity in preparing dishes from fragrant sticky rice and the beautiful cultural features of the community.


Students learn and practice making bamboo rice through the following steps: preparing ingredients including fragrant sticky rice, colored forest leaves (purple leaves, pandan leaves, turmeric...), young bamboo tubes, clean spring water; creating colors from forest plants and washing rice; stuffing rice into bamboo tubes; grilling bamboo rice and how to enjoy it.


The extracurricular activity ended in a joyful and excited atmosphere among the students. The experiential activity not only created a useful playground but also helped the students love work more, appreciate and preserve the national cultural identity.
