Arrested 122,066 cases, 186,950 drug criminals

The report on the implementation of Directive No. 36-CT/TU for 5 years shows that the fight against drug-related crimes has been carried out resolutely and effectively. Notable results include the detection, combating and arrest of 122,066 cases, 186,950 drug-related criminals; the seizure of more than 3,080 kg of heroin, 14,513.48 kg and 12,036,388 synthetic drug pills; 3,244.16 kg of marijuana...

Regarding the prosecution and trial of drug-related crimes, People's Courts at all levels have accepted 112,678 cases with 160,172 defendants committing drug-related crimes for trial according to regulations.

The national police force has also established records to manage 37,980 illegal drug users, 165,992 drug addicts, 16,932 people after drug rehabilitation...

Regarding drug addiction treatment, there are currently 97 public facilities nationwide, providing treatment for 41,649 people. Vocational training for drug addicts from 2020 to May 2024 has provided vocational training for 38,323 people...

Compared to the same period before implementing Directive No. 36-CT/TU, the number of drug-related cases and criminals discovered and arrested increased by 21.83% and 21.95%, respectively; 32.48% more new cases were prosecuted and 39.94% more defendants were prosecuted...

At the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long informed the basic content of Conclusion No. 132-KL/TU on continuing to implement Directive No. 36-CT/TU dated August 16, 2019 and the Government's plan to implement Conclusion No. 132-KL/TU.

At the conference, representatives of a number of ministries, branches and localities spoke to clarify further results, solutions and recommendations on drug prevention and control work in the coming time.

Representative of Hanoi city, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the City People's Committee Le Quang Long said that in the past 5 years, the units and forces of the city's police discovered, investigated and discovered 17,891 cases, 27,146 subjects (compared to the previous 5 years, there was an increase of 4,377 cases, 9,701 subjects); seized more than 3,600 kg of drugs of all kinds (an increase of 2,600 kg compared to the previous 5 years). The work of eliminating complicated drug-related hotspots achieved positive results, not allowing complicated drug-related hotspots to appear publicly, causing public outrage...

On this occasion, Hanoi proposed that the Central Government promptly issue and deploy projects under the National Target Program on Drug Prevention and Control until 2030 for localities to soon implement; promote the application of achievements in science, technology and artificial intelligence in drug prevention and control; continue to review, amend, supplement and perfect the legal system and mechanisms and policies related to drug prevention and control work...

Concluding the conference, Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu highly appreciated the results achieved in drug prevention, control and combat over more than 5 years of implementing Directive No. 36-CT/TU.

Regarding the tasks in the coming time, Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu requested that each Party committee, agency, unit, and locality must be aware and thoroughly educate cadres and Party members to have a correct, complete, and responsible understanding of the position, role, and importance of drug prevention and control work in ensuring security and order, protecting the health, life, peaceful life, and happiness of all people, protecting the country's resources, and protecting the race in the new era.

Comrade Tran Cam Tu requested to be unified in ideology, identifying drug prevention, control and combat as a key task, both urgent, regular, continuous and long-term, requiring perseverance, persistence, determination and high determination; at the same time, it is the task of the entire political system and the whole society, absolutely not "entirely delegated" to the police force.

At the same time, synchronously implement drug prevention and control solutions according to the motto of preventing supply, reducing demand, and reducing the harmful effects of drugs; organize a comprehensive review of the number of drug addicts and illegal drug users to focus on educating, reforming, and sending eligible people to compulsory drug rehabilitation according to regulations; ensure resources and improve the effectiveness of drug rehabilitation work; continue to promote international cooperation in drug prevention and control...

“Strive to achieve the goal of having at least 50% of commune-level administrative units nationwide be “drug-free” by the end of 2030. This is a target that requires very high political determination, great efforts from the entire political system, and comprehensive implementation of proposed solutions to gradually push drugs out of social life,” emphasized comrade Tran Cam Tu.
