Although he is over 70 years old with 45 years of Party membership, having held many positions such as Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tong Phan Commune (formerly), Head of the Commune Police..., Mr. Hoang Thanh Chin, Head of the Elderly Association, Head of the Front Work Committee of Vu Xa Village, is always enthusiastic and dedicated to his work. In every position, he has always completed the assigned tasks well.

The whole village currently has 149 elderly association members. He and the Association Executive Committee have mobilized members to actively participate in movements and activities of the association at higher levels and in the locality, notably mobilizing 19 members to donate more than 1,000 square meters of land to build roads; participate in family economic development; preserve a green - clean - beautiful living environment...

Thanks to that, up to now, more than 96% of the members' families have achieved the title of cultural family, contributing to bringing the locality to the finish line of a model new rural residential area. Not only responsible for his work, Mr. Chin is also active in economic development. With more than 2 hectares of land growing longan, grapefruit and raising commercial fish, his family earns more than 100 million VND in profit each year. Quang Hung commune currently has 5,703 elderly members, operating in 16 branches. Despite their old age, there are still more than 1,500 elderly people directly participating in labor production to enrich their families and hometowns.

Party member Hoang Manh Uoc, 68 years old in Vu Xa village, Deputy Director of Tong Phan People's Credit Fund is one of them. Not only good at doing business, he has twice donated nearly ^100m2 of land to expand traffic roads. Currently, with 2.5 hectares of land, he uses it as a pond to raise freshwater white-leg shrimp, raise commercial fish and grow fruit trees. Every year, he sells 4-5 tons of shrimp; 15 tons of fish and tons of various fruits, earning a profit of nearly 300 million VND. Mr. Uoc said: At first, due to lack of knowledge and experience, I failed many times.

Not discouraged, I persevered to learn and gain experience from shrimp farming models, then applied science and technology to the pond. With 8 years of shrimp farming bringing a stable income, I am willing to share knowledge and experience with everyone to develop the economy together.

Mr. Bui Van Tu, Chairman of the Elderly Association of Quang Hung Commune, said: “The Elderly Association of the commune regularly propagates and mobilizes cadres and members to actively respond to emulation movements and campaigns associated with studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh. Currently, the commune has 1,114 members participating in the work of the Party, government, unions and association organizations. With prestige and experience, the elderly have made many dedicated contributions to building a strong Party, government and political system. Many elderly people participate in grassroots mediation groups, groups participating in maintaining security and order, always upholding the exemplary role, advising their children and grandchildren to comply well with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, participating in preserving the environment, ensuring security and order, building cultural families, cultural villages...

Up to now, more than 96% of members' families have achieved the title of cultural family. In addition, the Commune Elderly Association has consulted with the Party Committee and authorities, coordinated with units and individuals to present 114 gifts to the elderly with revolutionary contributions, outstanding elderly, and elderly in difficult circumstances; organized media conferences and provided health care advice to over 500 members; maintained 80 cultural, artistic, folk dance, health care, and volleyball clubs, creating useful playgrounds, contributing to improving the physical strength and spiritual life of the elderly; mobilized the elderly to contribute hundreds of working days to the "Green Sunday" movement; mobilized 125 members to donate over 2,500 square meters of land to build roads.

Mr. Pham Van Chuc, Ha Cat village confided: I think having a wide road is not only for my life but also for my children and grandchildren. I am old and need to set an example, so I donated more than 220 square ^meters of land. When seeing my family donate land, many people responded to widen the road to 7 meters to help people travel more conveniently.

Over the years of implementation, the emulation movement “Old age - bright example” has spread in social life and brought about positive results. Despite their old age, the elderly are still contributing their efforts and intelligence every day to build their homeland Quang Hung to become more and more prosperous and civilized.
