START A BUSINESS WITH CONFIDENCE

From the activities of the women's movement to help each other develop the economy and start a business, many HVPNs are increasingly confident and bold in starting businesses in many fields. The initial success from the start-up models not only helps HVPNs themselves affirm their capacity and economic ability, but also encourages and motivates many HVPNs to participate in the movement, helping to develop the family economy and get rich from their own diligence and creativity.

Ms. Thu Thao successfully started a business, creating jobs and contributing to solving the output for fresh fruits in the locality.

Born and raised in a farming family, since childhood, Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Hai, Tan Ly Dong commune, Chau Thanh district, has been friends with the banyan tree. When she got married, she always wondered how to develop the economy from the native banyan tree.

Through research, Ms. Be Hai discussed with her husband to open a palm leaf hat production facility. With support from the Women's Union of Tan Ly Dong commune to borrow 25 million VND, Ms. Be Hai immediately boldly invested in purchasing equipment such as: Palm leaf hat pressing machine, Palm leaf hat dyeing machine... investing initial capital to buy palm leaf hats and handbags.

In addition to buying palm leaf hats and handbags, Ms. Be Hai also sells palm leaf materials to help people weave hats conveniently, saving time buying palm leaf. The facility has initially created stable jobs for 10 workers, with an income of 2 - 4 million VND/person/month.

To ensure product safety and achieve quality standards, Ms. Be Hai actively participated in training courses on transferring scientific and technical advances. Ms. Be Hai said that at first, she also realized that she was taking a risk, but if she did not take a risk, she would not be like she is now. The most important thing is that she does it with all her heart, taking improving product quality as her development goal.

Starting her business with a passion for sewing and a desire to create more jobs for idle women in the village, Ms. Vo Thi Hau, My Hoi commune, Cai Be district, was very confident in starting her business by sewing handbags.

At first, only 4 or 5 women joined Ms. Hau in sewing, with 1 programming machine and 5 sewing machines. “At first, I started the handbag sewing business with the money my husband and I saved, and with the support of the Women's Union of My Hoi commune, I was able to borrow 50 million VND from the Social Policy Bank, plus 50 million VND from the Fund to Support Women in Economic Development of Tien Giang province.

Once I had the capital, I was able to attend a business management skills class to equip myself with the knowledge to start a business more effectively. Currently, my handbag sewing facility produces 250,000 - 300,000 handbags per month," Ms. Hau added.

Due to the increasing demand for exporting handbags, up to now, Ms. Hau's handbag processing facility has over 70 workers participating in different stages such as: making straps, sewing mouths, sewing edges, basket bottoms, etc. On average, a good worker will have an income of 5 - 9 million VND/person/month; for workers who cut threads and arrange handbags working seasonally, the income is over 4 million VND/person/month. In addition, if receiving goods to sew at home, each person will have an income of 1.5 - 3 million VND/month.

Understanding the needs and tastes of consumers, Ms. Diep Thu Deo, Diem Hy commune, Chau Thanh district, has realized her startup idea by starting to grow gray oyster mushrooms effectively. Ms. Deo said: “Taking advantage of my family's free time and limited production land, I have grown gray oyster mushrooms to develop the family economy.

After a period of research and experience, I boldly borrowed capital to invest in farms and buy mushroom spawn. The most obvious effect in 2021, despite the Covid-19 outbreak, I still supplied mushrooms to the market via social networks, earning about 7 - 9 million VND/month. In the coming time, I will continue to expand the scale of production and seek a wider market...".

With her agility in innovation and sharp thinking in management, Ms. Tran Thi My Hanh has made My Hong Phuc premium bird's nest, My Duc Dong commune, Cai Be district, increasingly known to consumers.

My Hong Phuc premium bird's nest products have been certified as food safety qualified facilities, completed product self-declaration dossiers, barcode registration, packaging, labels... are the conditions that need to be met to participate in the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program. Ms. Hanh has registered for OCOP product certification with products such as: Refined bird's nest; bird's nest with ginger; bird's nest with cordyceps; bird's nest with cordyceps and sugar-free (35%); bird's nest with ginseng.

Excellently winning the First Prize of the 2022 Startup Idea Contest organized by the Provincial Women's Union, Ms. Huynh Thi Thy Thy, owner of Xuan Phuc Coconut Cookie Production Facility (Vinh Binh town, Go Cong Tay district) has successfully started a business. With the desire to preserve the traditional flavor of the cake, Ms. Thy Thy has built, maintained and created the famous coconut cookie brand of Go.

Through many times participating in trade fairs, Xuan Phuc coconut biscuits have been known to many customers, and the consumption volume has increased. However, to perfect the product, Ms. Thy Thy is aiming to build a brand for the product so that consumers can trust it more.

“My aspiration is not to sell a lot of coconut cookies, but to revive my family’s traditional profession. Because in my opinion, consuming safe, quality-assured products is the current consumer trend. I believe that consumers will increasingly support traditional cookies, including Xuan Phuc coconut cookies,” Thy Thy shared.

IMPROVING WOMEN'S LIVES

Having had a knack for knitting since she was a girl, Ms. Vo Thi Diep (Xom Dau Street, Ward 3, My Tho City) boldly started a business and succeeded with wool products. After graduating from high school, Ms. Diep went to learn the craft of knitting sweaters. After that, Ms. Diep worked as a worker for the Thu Hong Knitting Cooperative.

While working and learning, after gaining experience in knitting sweaters, in 2017, Ms. Diep decided to start her own business, establishing Thanh Quang Knitting Co., Ltd. She switched from knitting to receiving orders for making sweaters.

With many years of experience in the profession and the introduction of relatives and friends, she receives goods for processing from companies in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong province... Each month, Thanh Quang Knitting Company processes and exports about 1,000 - 2,000 sweaters.

Ms. Diep said: “Establishing a knitting group not only helps develop the family economy; at the same time, I want to create jobs for older women who cannot work in companies or factories, and for housewives and children to have extra income.

Although she has encountered many difficulties, she feels happy because her work helps many people. Currently, THT Knitting has about 5 women working at the facility with different stages. In addition, she also creates jobs for about 10 workers who receive goods to sew at home; most of them are older women, housewives who want to earn extra income and those who have been with the company for a long time with a salary of 3 - 20 million VND/month, depending on the job position and product.

The success of many types of dried fruits has helped Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Thao, Vinh Binh town, Go Cong Tay district, have a stable income, contributing to solving the output for fresh fruits in the area. Ms. Thao shared: “Born and raised in the countryside, I realized the hard work and hardship of farmers, as well as saw the great potential for development of local agricultural products.

With the desire to preserve and process available agricultural products, solve a part of the idle labor in the locality, create opportunities for agricultural product consumption and greater development for farmers, my husband and I went to many places to learn from experience and VINAXO Company Limited was born with the main business of processing and exporting products from local agricultural products, vegetables, tubers and fruits, increasing the value of Vietnamese agricultural products.

Up to now, Ms. Thao's company has developed dried fruits such as: Mango, dragon fruit, jackfruit, coconut, papaya, guava... Ms. Thao shared that the company's dried fruits are produced using modern cold-drying technology, committed to being fresh, 100% natural and food safe, preserving the natural flavor when used. In particular, mango is the company's best-selling product, producing about 2,000 tons of fresh mango each year. Thanks to that, it has solved many outputs for mango growers.

Many of HVPN’s startup ideas have been realized. With the spirit of daring to think and daring to do, women have contributed to changing the structure of crops and livestock for high income, gradually bringing products made by women to a foothold not only in the provincial market, but also widely popularizing to provinces and cities across the country. In particular, many women’s startup products have also been recognized as meeting OCOP standards.
