Nine artists, nine distinct and emotional painting personalities, have just joined together in the interesting exhibition "Women Painting Women" , which is on display until May 16 at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association.

With 69 paintings in various materials from lacquer, silk to oil, the exhibition not only brings impressive paintings, but also invites viewers to enter the colorful inner world of women artists.

When women take the initiative to tell their stories

With " Women Painting Women" , the exhibition poses a special perspective: when women themselves are the ones telling stories about themselves and the women around them through paintings and perspectives from within.

There, each painting is a confession of the true feelings of her mother, sister, friends, loved ones and the artist herself.

"None of us try to paint an ideal image of women. We just tell the stories we know, using gentle, honest and deeply instinctive materials," said artist Tao Huong, founder of the group "Women Painting Women."

Therefore, each painting is like a heartfelt whisper, inviting viewers to stop, contemplate the work, empathize with all their hearts and find themselves in it.

Not only impressive in its subject matter, the exhibition is also an opportunity to admire how femininity becomes a creative language, imbued in every composition, line, material...

As artist Ngo Dong said, the exhibition is beautiful not because of the paintings by women, but because of the true talent of the authors. Many of them are among the top female artists in Vietnam today, and it is rare to have an exhibition that brings together so many talents and beautiful works.

Choosing youth as her theme, artist Tao Huong often paints young women in everyday moments: a summer afternoon nap, eyes waiting for a text message, or moments of love... with the inner understanding of a woman who has gone through youth.

Her paintings are soft and feminine, but not superficial, but deep and full of inner strength. Using oil paint as the main material, Tao Huong infuses her paintings with a passion for pure beauty, creating a space that is both realistic and poetic.

An architect, artist and mother of four, Nguyen Thuy Duong puts the image of pregnant women at the center of her work.

With minimalist shapes and traditional lacquer materials, she not only recreates the beauty of pregnancy in a full body but also in the blossoming of the inner self. It is a fertile beauty that is both primitive and sacred, where women become symbols of creativity, fertility and life.

Loving the fragile yet strong beauty, painter Nguyen Thi Hoa brings a poetic lacquer world, both quiet and splendid, where women are present in silence.

Each painting is a small slice of life expressed in dark colors, restrained lines, and multi-layered materials like lines of memories. She does not tell big stories but whispers softly like a lullaby, praising the beauty of women in the rhythm of daily life.

Poetic and sensitive, Do Anh Hoa builds a world of paintings based on the blend of traditional aesthetics and contemporary mentality.

The women in her paintings are both graceful and filled with strong inner feelings. They are vivid characters, both familiar and mysterious, evoking multi-dimensional emotions for the viewer.

The beauty of tenderness

Artist Ton Nu Thi Bich Tram chose to paint very ordinary women: sleeping, holding children, applying makeup, beautifying each other. The characters appear from a very intimate, realistic perspective.

Tram's silk paintings are like a form of "documentation" of social emotions, where daily activities are cherished as art. She chooses gentleness as her support, not the weak gentleness but the enduring warmth of family love and attachment.

Pursuing lacquer as a journey to find Asian aesthetics, the graceful young women in ao dai in the paintings of artist Huynh Thao have a graceful, shy and charming beauty.

Subtly combining classical lines and modern expressions, her paintings are a fusion of traditional lacquer beauty and a spirit of constant exploration and creativity.

Inspired by Andersen, Nguyen Phuong Hoa brings women into the world of fairy tale characters, where every look or sitting posture becomes a fairy tale.

But behind the romantic, dreamy shell, her paintings are a voice of self-affirmation. To her, every woman deserves to be painted, told, and honored.

For artist Dang Hien, painting is a journey into the inner self to talk to himself, to his inner mother, and to his unnamed feelings.

Without exaggeration of form, her paintings are a form of "meditation painting", where each female character appears as a symbol of life, memory and love, and also a door leading to healing.

In Do Duyen’s paintings, the woman’s long hair becomes a poetic metaphor. It moves while the character is motionless, like emotions silently flowing, winding, struggling.

With a youthful and contemporary approach, she frees women from stereotypes, bringing them back to life, where they can "play with their hair" and freely express themselves.
