The People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone stated that according to information from the An Giang Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station, between 8 PM and 9 PM on October 29, 2025, the measured rainfall in Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone was 120mm (possibly the heaviest rainfall since 2000), and the rain is expected to continue for the next few hours.
Prolonged heavy rain has caused localized flooding on many roads in Phu Quoc. Photos were posted by residents on social media.
To proactively respond to heavy rains causing localized flooding in some areas of the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone, the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone Civil Defense Command requests the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone Military Command to regularly monitor weather developments, proactively coordinate with the Special Economic Zone police, and border guard units stationed in the area to have forces and equipment ready for search and rescue operations when necessary.
The An Giang Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Center (Region 2 Water Supply) organizes the operation of opening and closing sluice gates to regulate water flow appropriately, and manages reservoirs and dams safely to protect the lives and property of the people.
The Department of Economy , Infrastructure and Urban Development regularly monitors and updates weather developments, promptly deploying forces to clear waterways, especially in the old airport area and along 30th April Street, Tran Hung Dao Street, Nguyen Trung Truc Street, etc., to drain water and immediately address localized flooding at these hotspots.
The Department of Culture and Social Affairs closely monitors warning bulletins, forecasts, and developments of heavy rainfall to provide timely and complete information to organizations, individuals operating tourism services, and tourists so that they can proactively prevent, respond to, and minimize damage.
Task forces in charge of specific areas and neighborhood leaders should closely monitor meteorological and hydrological forecasts and warnings regarding rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, localized flooding, and landslides in order to promptly inform and educate the public so that they can proactively implement appropriate response measures in their areas.
