On December 11, a representative of Phu Quoc International Airport said that Phu Quoc airport currently receives many international flights from Korea, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Czech Republic, Shanghai (China) ... with the number of international visitors about 1,700 passengers/day.
In the last months of 2023, Phu Quoc will reconnect many international flights, welcoming many foreign tourists.
Meanwhile, many domestic flights to Phu Quoc have been suspended for many months now. Typically, at this time, Phu Quoc airport only has domestic flights from Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong.
Airlines have temporarily suspended flights from Da Nang, Can Tho , Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) to Phu Quoc. The number of domestic passengers transiting through Phu Quoc airport is about 3,000 passengers/day on average.
Many domestic flights to Phu Quoc temporarily suspended
Many businesses operating in the hotel and restaurant business in Phu Quoc said that the number of domestic tourists coming here has decreased mainly due to the high price of air tickets compared to the previous period...
Specifically, round-trip airfare during the New Year holiday from Hanoi to Phu Quoc ranges from 7 million to 8.5 million VND; from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc from 3.5 million to 4 million VND.
At that time, airline representatives repeatedly stated that the reason for the increase in domestic flight ticket prices to Phu Quoc was due to objective reasons. Of which, the price of gasoline was the leading factor, along with the decrease in the number of passengers booking tickets, forcing many flights to be cut, causing the cost of flying here to increase.
International visitors to Phu Quoc tend to increase but on the contrary, domestic visitors decrease sharply.
According to many hotels in the central area of Phu Quoc City, the number of visitors to the "pearl island" during the year-end holidays has not changed for the better, with room occupancy rates not reaching 50%.
To attract international tourists to visit and relax, businesses have increased work with many travel partners in other countries to bring visitors to Phu Quoc.
"Recently, the company has worked with many partners in the Czech Republic, Germany... to bring tourists from these markets to visit and relax locally" - Mr. Nguyen Vu Khac Huy, General Director of Vina Phu Quoc Tourism Company Limited, said.
Ms. Quang Xuan Lua, Director of the Kien Giang Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, said that international visitors to Phu Quoc City are exempted from visas for 30 days. Currently, the "pearl island" welcomes about 24,000 visitors every day, with over 20,000 staying on the island; of which, 2,000 are international visitors from many countries such as Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, China, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, Poland, etc.
