The beautiful image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the hearts of the people is always close, sharing, but also extremely solemn.
Listening to her compliments, then reading thousands of compliments and criticisms on social networks when sharing images of officers and soldiers who are serious, friendly, and generous when participating in major events of the country; when making efforts, trying their best to wade through flood waters to help people; rushing into fires to save forests; not caring about our lives to protect people... we, the soldiers in the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), all feel very happy and proud!

After each natural disaster or flood, reading the confidences and shares in the press and on social networks, seeing the affectionate and admiring eyes of people from all walks of life for Uncle Ho's soldiers or the lingering tears of mothers, sisters, and younger siblings when saying goodbye to their soldiers in places where flash floods and landslides occurred... makes one feel the warmth and deep affection between the Army and the People.
That Army-People relationship was built right from the first days of the establishment of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army - the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army. Through many different historical periods, the Army-People relationship has been increasingly built solidly; the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the hearts of the people always has a special position, both in closeness, sharing, but also in great dignity.
When the country has special important events, such as parades and marches, the affection between the Army and the People is nurtured and surged. The image of a new revolutionary soldier, mature and dignified in the parade formation, has affirmed the position of the Vietnam People's Army, making the people more confident in the strength of the Army; adding strength to the whole nation; being the pride of the Vietnamese people... And for that reason, the officers and soldiers participating in major events of the country are always loved, proud and welcomed by the people.
Taking advantage of this, whether intentionally or unintentionally, some social networking sites, with a few initial images of Senior Lieutenant Le Hoang Hiep (Division 9, Army Group 34), when participating in parades and marches on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975/April 30, 2025), these sites have tried every way to create a "social media explosion". Senior Lieutenant Le Hoang Hiep's image was edited, added, commented on, and discussed as a "male soldier god", making many people curious, and from there being led by social networks. Many social networking sites have "followed" to sell goods, advertise... causing a negative impact on the image of revolutionary soldiers.
Social media storm
In the context of social changes, social networks are like a hurricane ready to blow up both good things, the right things as well as the negative aspects in the behavior of some people. The image of Senior Lieutenant Le Hoang Hiep being overly welcomed, pushed and jostled by many people while performing his duty not only destroys the seriousness and dignity of soldiers in the Army, but the dizzying speed of spread over the past few months has surprised and embarrassed even those involved and commanders at all levels with this "fame".
The excessive behavior of young people due to their love made Le Hoang Hiep and many other soldiers unable to prepare mentally and take effective adaptation measures. Because military discipline is strict, each soldier cannot arbitrarily have behaviors that go beyond the permitted limits. We cannot, because of the sometimes excessive love and affection of some young people who have not fully understood all the issues for themselves, forget the discipline, orders, regulations, and rules of the Army; even take advantage of that love for personal gain, tarnishing the image of soldiers in the Vietnam People's Army.

Many people expressed seriousness when criticizing: I feel it is too much for the acts of admiration for an officer of the Vietnam People's Army. Many others kept a calmer attitude and said: For a long time, my admiration has been for all the soldiers who are in the most difficult places to carry out the task of protecting the Fatherland. When we are enjoying peace and studying, you accept all difficulties to carry out your duties in rocky mountains, barren hills, remote islands... to keep the country peaceful. For us, the "soldier" quality in every Vietnamese person is the boundless love for the Fatherland, perhaps that is why the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers is always a beautiful symbol of the Vietnamese people. Let's love them, share with them, don't consider soldiers as entertainment stars, don't behave excessively and lose the dignity of soldiers, of the Vietnam People's Army.
Love the soldiers in the Vietnam People's Army with a moderate and cultured attitude.
The mob mentality among a segment of the population, which is being deliberately led by some social networking sites, has caused real concerns when distorted images and insensitive, short-sighted comments appear, distorting the image of soldiers and the Vietnam People's Army. More dangerously, reactionary forces through social networking sites have taken the opportunity to defame the Army. They claim that the Army is now also doing media and "PR", not focusing on training but on pleasing "netizens".
I think the authorities need to soon take strong measures against social networking sites that have offensive comments about soldiers and the Vietnam People's Army.
Meanwhile, young people should show friendliness and respect for soldiers in the Vietnam People's Army with a moderate attitude and high political awareness; should not joke, crop images to attract views, attract likes, take advantage of soldiers' images for business, or engage in illegal activities; should not make fun of or insult the image of soldiers in the Vietnam People's Army.
On the part of the media, social network administrators need to be honest and not report false information. Just a few days ago, many newspapers claimed that the Political Department of the 34th Corps had made an official announcement regarding Senior Lieutenant Le Hoang Hiep, however, when contacting the 34th Corps, we found that there had been no official announcement. Perhaps that is why none of the press agencies that published the above information had a copy of that baseless announcement.
Among the many people who truly love outstanding soldiers, there are also those who take advantage of it to attract views and likes on social networks. |
On the afternoon of June 9, speaking with a reporter from the People's Army Newspaper, Colonel Vo Phuoc Vy, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the 34th Corps, said: The Corps has not made any announcement about Senior Lieutenant Le Hoang Hiep as some newspapers have reported. Discussing further about the case of comrade Le Hoang Hiep, Colonel Vo Phuoc Vy said that comrade Hiep has a good working attitude. When assigned a task, he always completes the assigned task well. He lives in harmony and is responsible for everyone in the unit; enthusiastic in his work. After participating in the parade and marching mission at the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, comrade Hiep still maintained a modest attitude, strictly followed military discipline and speech discipline. The unit also promptly advised comrade Hiep when encountering unexpected situations; Share civilized behavior, maintain military discipline and the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers when participating in events organized by military units and the Ministry of National Defense .
Colonel Vo Phuoc Vy also hopes that young people will respect the Army-Civilian relationship, not to have behavior that goes beyond the limit, not only with Senior Lieutenant Le Hoang Hiep, but to join hands to build a truly pure Army-Civilian relationship, together preserve the noble image of revolutionary soldiers in the Vietnam People's Army, maintain a civilized attitude, not to let hostile forces take advantage to sabotage the Army-Civilian relationship and solidarity.
In conclusion:
A good soldier or a good army is confirmed through what they have done, are doing and will do for the people and the Fatherland. Young people need to be alert, express their feelings for officers, soldiers and the People's Army properly, do not let social networking sites and hostile forces lead them on the internet to forget the true meaning, the true person, the true beauty of a soldier in the Vietnam People's Army.
