Quang Binh attends conference on trade promotion and import-export development in the Central region

(QBĐT) - On June 28, the Quang Binh delegation attended the conference on trade promotion and import-export development in the Central region organized by the Trade Promotion Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang.

Attending the event were Ms. Phan Thi Thang, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade; representatives of specialized units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, leaders, representatives of embassies, consulates general, diplomatic agencies, international organizations, industry associations, local associations, distribution channels, domestic and international supermarket systems and over 200 business delegates from provinces and cities.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang affirmed: The Central region is a particularly important strategic area in terms of politics , economy, culture, society, national defense, security and foreign affairs of the whole country.

However, the North Central and Central Coast regions are facing problems that need to be solved, such as: Economic growth of the region is still low compared to the set target; the marine economy has not made a breakthrough; the operational efficiency of coastal economic zones, industrial parks, and industrial clusters has not changed much, and the advantages of other economic infrastructures such as airports and seaports have not been fully exploited. Human resources have not been mobilized and used effectively, and the quality of human resources is not high. The income of people in the region is still low, and there are many difficulties.

The Deputy Minister requested that the functional units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, based on their functions and tasks, discuss methods or directions to resolve problems that localities in the region are still facing regarding import-export development linkage activities, taking advantage of foreign market opportunities and trade promotion.

At the conference, delegates representing localities also proposed solutions to effectively contribute to trade promotion, import-export development of the region, and support regional products and services to find suitable market directions.

Within the framework of the program, there were activities to display and introduce typical products with export potential to promote the potential strengths and achievements in socio-economic development of localities. Quang Binh province's pavilion displayed and introduced products that have been certified as typical rural industry, OCOP of the province in agricultural products, small-scale industry and handicrafts of enterprises in the province, such as: Natural essential oils, various starches, gai leaf cakes, agarwood, medicinal wine, herbal tea, bonsai bent from aluminum wire...

Previously, on the afternoon of June 27, a conference was held to deploy trade promotion work in the Central Highlands region in 2024 to summarize and evaluate activities in the first 6 months of the year, deploy plans for the last 6 months of 2024 and orientations for 2025.
