Quang Ninh: Warning to ward officials whose children's scores were altered

An official in Ha Lam ward (Quang Ninh) whose child's score was raised to achieve excellent results was disciplined with a warning.

On October 23, information from the People's Committee of Ha Lam Ward ( Quang Ninh ) said that, related to the case of the principal changing the scores of the ward officials' children, the Party Committee of Ha Lam Ward has just disciplined the related officials and party members.

Accordingly, the Party Committee of Ha Lam Ward disciplined with a warning Ms. VHM, Deputy of the Culture - Social Committee of the People's Council of Ha Lam Ward (a parent whose child studying at Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School had his score corrected).

In addition to Ms. VHM, 8 staff members and teachers of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School who participated in correcting the scores of the above-mentioned students were also disciplined. Among them, Ms. Do Thi Ngoc Lan, Principal of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School, was demoted to staff; the remaining teachers were warned and reprimanded.

The leader of Ha Lam Ward said that the locality's viewpoint is to handle the matter seriously, publicly, and transparently to maintain discipline in the educational environment and the reputation of the staff and party members.

Previously, Thanh Nien reporters received a complaint from parents and teachers of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School about the school's staff and teachers changing the scores of the Ha Lam ward official's child to make her an excellent student. Notably, the original score of the female student in the subjects of IT and English was only 4 points, but after being changed, it became 8 points, enough to qualify for the title of excellent student.

Text messages believed to be internal instructions from school leaders requesting to "correct scores" in math, natural science, information technology and English for the above students have also been provided by parents to authorities for verification and clarification.

According to the verification results of the authorities, in the 2024-2025 school year, the Board of Directors and some teachers of the school intervened and changed the scores and exam scores of a female student, the child of a ward official, on the electronic transcript system. This violation of regulations helped many subjects of this student "jump" to excellent, causing public outrage.
