Quang Tri promotes the role of infrastructure

In recent times, Quang Tri has made many efforts in reforming administrative procedures, improving the investment and business environment, and developing the socio-economy. In 2024, the whole province attracted investment in 40 projects, with a total investment of more than 12,098.39 billion VND, a 4-fold increase in registered capital compared to 2023. In terms of economic development, Quang Tri's GRDP growth rate in 2024 reached 5.97%.

In the context of many economic challenges, Quang Tri still boldly sets a growth target of 8% in 2025. This is considered a difficult task, but the province is determined to complete this goal.

Mr. Ha Sy Dong, Acting Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, said that to complete the growth target, one of the province's solutions is to focus on accelerating the progress of construction works and investment projects in the area, especially key projects that are driving forces, have a great impact on socio-economic development and strengthen regional connectivity.

Quang Tri has been implementing 13 key and dynamic projects. With the dynamic projects that have been and are being implemented, one of the biggest challenges is site clearance and capital mobilization. However, with the strong direction from the Central Government, the strong participation of local authorities, and the consensus of the people, many obstacles have been gradually resolved, thereby contributing to speeding up the progress of the projects.

With the synchronous implementation of solutions, as well as the close support and active support to remove difficulties and obstacles from provincial leaders, local authorities, relevant departments, branches and sectors, the progress of key projects of Quang Tri province has had many positive changes.

At My Thuy Port Area (Hai An Commune, Hai Lang District), with a scale of 10 berths and a total investment of VND 14,234 billion, after being restarted in March 2024, the project is being actively implemented and accelerated by the investor.

Mr. Tran Van Dung, representative of the Project Management Board - My Thuy International Port Joint Stock Company (MTIP - investor) said that up to now, contractors are constructing the 320 m long eastern dike and breakwater, expected to be completed on May 15, 2025; construction of the wharf and embankment behind wharf No. 1 is expected to be completed in November 2025 and No. 2 is expected to be completed before February 15, 2026.

In addition, contractors are mass-performing bored pile drilling with 10 production lines; constructing the wharf girder system and gathering rubble for the wharf embankment. “In phase I, the project will invest in 4 wharfs with a length of 1,300 m and the expected cargo throughput of the port will reach 12 million tons/year. The enterprise strives to complete phase I by the end of 2027,” said Mr. Dung.

Another key project of Quang Tri that is also being implemented is Quang Tri Airport in Gio Quang, Gio Hai and Gio Mai communes, Gio Linh district. The project has the standards of a level 4C airport, invested by a consortium of T&T Transport Infrastructure Investment and Development Company Limited and Cienco4 Group Joint Stock Company, with a total investment of VND5,821 billion.

To date, Gio Linh district has completed site clearance of 239.4 hectares and leased 140.56 hectares of land to the project enterprise to build aircraft parking lots, taxiways, passenger terminals and about 1.5 km of runways. Of which, in the aircraft parking lot category, the contractor has completed 32,917 m2, and is constructing service roads and other auxiliary items. Procedures are also being completed according to regulations to implement construction, ensure progress and put the Project into operation in July 2026.

At the Quang Tri Industrial Park Project (Hai Truong Commune, Dien Sanh Town, Hai Lang District), invested by Quang Tri Development Joint Venture Company Limited - QTIP, with a scale of 481 hectares and a total investment of VND 2,074 billion, after more than a year of starting construction of phase I, the Project is speeding up the construction progress of infrastructure and site leveling phase I (96.05 hectares) according to the set plan.

Mr. Ha Sy Dong said that if the My Thuy Port Project plays a strategic role in developing the marine economy, creating leverage for logistics and import-export activities in the region; Quang Tri Industrial Park is a highlight in attracting manufacturing enterprises, creating thousands of jobs for local workers; then Quang Tri Airport will be the gateway to help Quang Tri connect conveniently with major economic centers in the country and internationally.
