The new National Assembly is expected to hold its first question-and-answer session at its second session.

The National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) proposed that at the 2nd regular session, the 16th National Assembly consider 22 reports of the Government, 3 reports of the NASC and other reports of relevant agencies according to the provisions of law; and at the same time conduct 1 question and answer session.

According to the report of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly presented by Head of the Committee for Petitions and Supervision Duong Thanh Binh at the morning session of the National Assembly on June 13, based on the characteristics and special situation of 2026, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly proposed that the National Assembly not propose thematic supervision content in the National Assembly's supervision program for 2026. Accordingly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly plans the content of the National Assembly's supervision program for 2026 as follows.

At the first session, the 16th National Assembly considered 8 reports of the Government , 1 report of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and other reports of relevant agencies as prescribed by law.

At the 2nd regular session, the 16th National Assembly reviewed 22 reports of the Government, 3 reports of the National Assembly Standing Committee and other reports of relevant agencies in accordance with the law; and at the same time, conducted 1 question-and-answer session of National Assembly deputies at the 2nd regular session.

According to Head of the Committee Duong Thanh Binh, the remaining months of 2025 and 2026 are of particular importance in successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress and the 14th National Congress of the Party. In the context of changes in the organizational structure of the National Assembly, 2 new National Assembly committees have been established; at the same time, streamlining the political system apparatus, merging administrative units, and organizing 2-level local governments.

“The number of National Assembly delegations from provinces and cities is expected to decrease from 63 to 34, but the scale of the National Assembly delegations will be larger, the number of full-time National Assembly deputies will also increase, so besides the difficulties, there will also be many favorable conditions to perform the supervisory function better and more effectively,” Mr. Duong Thanh Binh analyzed.

Therefore, supervision work needs to continue to be focused on directing, drawing experience, having solutions to improve and innovate to suit the new practical situation, in which it is necessary to focus on promoting the spirit of initiative in supervision activities, promoting the application of information technology, proactively supervising right from the implementation of laws, ordinances, and resolutions of the National Assembly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, closely following the practical situation of law enforcement, ensuring that supervision activities are focused and key, avoiding overlap, improving effectiveness and efficiency, contributing to perfecting policies and laws, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management.
