New regulations on license plate symbols for cars and motorbikes of foreign organizations and individuals

According to Appendix 03 issued with Circular No. 24/2023/TT-BCA, the regulations on license plate symbols for cars and motorbikes for foreign organizations and individuals are specifically regulated as follows:

1. License plates for diplomatic missions, consular offices and foreign staff with diplomatic identity cards:

- Color and design: License plate has white background, red letters, black numbers.

- Symbol: The series symbol is “NG” in red.

- Special license plate: For vehicles of Ambassadors and Consuls General, the license plate has the registration number 01. This order has a red line across the group of numbers indicating nationality and registration order. License plate number 01 will be reissued when registering a new vehicle.

2. License plates for representative offices of international organizations and foreign employees with diplomatic identity cards of such organizations:

- Color and design: License plate has white background, red letters, black numbers.

- Symbol: The series symbol is “QT” in red.

- Special license plate: For vehicles of heads of representative offices of United Nations organizations, the license plate has an additional red line across the middle of the numbers indicating nationality and registration order.

3. License plate for technical administrative staff with official ID card:

- Color and design: License plate has white background, black letters and numbers.

- Symbol: The symbol series is “CV”.

4. License plates for other foreign organizations, representative offices and individuals:

- Color and design: License plate has white background, black letters and numbers.

- Symbol: The series symbol is “NN”.

These regulations aim to ensure clear distinction and effective management of vehicles of foreign organizations and individuals operating in Vietnam, facilitating the control and verification of the identity of vehicle owners.
