The "Green Line" is the de facto border separating Lebanon from Israel and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Israeli forces withdrew to this line when they withdrew from Lebanon after the 2000s war.

The Lebanese presidency said the ongoing construction violated Lebanon's sovereignty and violated UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah.

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Friday that the wall had made more than 4,000 square meters of Lebanese land inaccessible to residents, and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) had demanded its removal.

An Israeli military spokesman denied allegations that the wall crossed the Green Line, saying it was part of a broader defense plan that began in 2022. The military said Israel had strengthened its northern border defenses since the current war began.
