Are the rights of health insurance participants affected when the medical facility terminates the contract?

Many people are worried when the initial medical examination and treatment facility suspends the health insurance contract. However, the Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance affirms that the rights of participants are not affected.

In response to people's concerns about some medical facilities suspending initial medical examination and treatment contracts, on October 31, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance - affirmed that the medical examination and treatment rights of health insurance participants are not affected.

For cases that have registered for initial medical examination and treatment at facilities that have terminated their contracts, Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance has proactively transferred the registration place to other medical facilities that have health insurance medical examination and treatment contracts, prioritizing neighboring units for the convenience of the people.

Health insurance participants are still guaranteed full rights to medical examination and treatment according to regulations, without interruption or disadvantage. If participants want to change to another facility as desired, they can do so completely free of charge.

According to Article 26 of the Law on Health Insurance 2024, health insurance participants can change their initial place of medical examination and treatment registration within the first 15 days of each quarter (January, April, July and October). Changing the place of registration can be done directly at the social insurance agency where they reside, through the Vietnam Social Insurance Public Service Portal, the VssID application, or through the employer for those who are working.

To check the initial medical examination and treatment registration place, people can look up on the Vietnam Social Security Electronic Information Portal (https://baohiemxahoi.gov.vn), look up on the VssID application - Digital Social Insurance, or contact directly the social insurance agency or health insurance collection service organization.

According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance Agency, Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance will periodically review and compare data on the health insurance appraisal system to eliminate medical examination and treatment facilities that no longer meet the conditions to participate in health insurance examination and treatment.

This is to ensure that the published list is accurate, transparent, and consistent with reality, thereby best protecting the rights of health insurance participants when registering for initial medical examination and treatment, avoiding registration at "invalid" facilities, being rejected when going for medical examination and treatment, or disputes arising.

Some medical facilities have terminated their health insurance medical examination and treatment contracts with Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance.

Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance has informed about a number of medical facilities that have terminated their health insurance medical examination and treatment contracts with Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance, including:

2. Multidisciplinary Clinic 2 - Go Vap District Hospital

3. Oriental Hospital

4. Vu Anh International General Hospital

5. Phuc An Khang International Hospital

6. Saigon Healthcare Investment Service Joint Stock Company General Clinic

7. Medical Station of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City

8. Binh An General Clinic (372 Hung Vuong, Tam Long ward).
