The memoir “The Cave Boy and Student Flower” by author Nguyen Nhu Mai recounts his journey of more than half a century, when he was born and grew up during the war and devoted his life to youth. Notably, the work does not stop at private memories, but also realistically depicts the history, culture and education of Vietnam.

The central part of the book recounts Nguyen Nhu Mai's journey in building and developing the Hoa Hoc Tro newspaper.

In addition, author Nguyen Nhu Mai also devoted many touching pages to readers, colleagues, young writers, and special memories with General Vo Nguyen Giap and international friends at the World Youth and Students Festival in Algeria. At the same time, he also reviewed his milestones when participating in composing the children's poetry collection "Woodpecker"; science books for children, including: Treasure in the ground, Curiosity to strange lands, From inside the house to the yard; building history and geography books published at Kim Dong Publishing House with the goal of making history closer and easier to understand for young readers.

Reading the memoir “The Cave Boy and Student Flower”, readers see the journey of an ethnic boy who lived in a cave during the war, coming to light through the path of studying and working and dedicating his whole life to accompanying and supporting generations of young people. The work is also an example of the determination, personality and social responsibility of a Vietnamese intellectual.
