Launching Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport 2025 from 496 million VND

The B-size SUV model in Japan is the Toyota Corolla Cross 2025 GR Sport version, which has been comprehensively upgraded in both design and chassis.

It's no surprise that the Toyota Corolla Cross is often seen as a car that's more about practicality than emotion. However, the latest upgrade from Toyota has given this compact SUV a much more powerful and attractive look.

The new generation of Toyota Corolla Cross has just been launched in Japan with a number of exclusive upgrades, including a sportier GR Sport version and a series of outstanding accessories. However, the Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport will only be available for some markets around the world such as Japan and Europe.

Specifically, the GR Sport package adds a rugged body kit and some chassis tweaks for customers who want their SUV to look more fast. For those who still can’t get enough, Toyota also offers accessories developed by GR Parts and Modellista to add more “coolness”.

In terms of design, the Toyota Corolla Cross for the Japanese market is quite similar to the European version. The only notable difference, apart from the Japanese-standard right-hand steering wheel, is the front logo. This logo is adapted to the local design style for non-GR Toyota models in Japan.

Japanese buyers also get a few technical features that other markets don’t have, including the E-Four’s Snow Extra mode and Signal Road Projection technology, which uses the turn signals to project an arrow onto the road.

This is a smart solution to signal the direction to pedestrians and other vehicles. GR Sport brings a new sporty breeze to the Corolla Cross, which is famous for its calmness. The highlight is the front bumper with a design inspired by the high-performance hatchback GR Corolla.

The honeycomb grille and conventional LED strip are gone, replaced by large air intakes and a lower spoiler. The sporty look continues with black 19-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers and a retuned suspension that lowers the ride height by 10mm. Stiffer springs and additional reinforcement at the rear should increase rigidity, at least in theory.

The interior has also been upgraded with faux suede seats that hug the body of the occupant, and come with gray stitching and the GR Sport logo. The engine of the Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport 2025 is a self-charging hybrid powertrain with a 2.0L gasoline engine, providing high power, combined with a 10-speed Shiftmatic automatic transmission and E-Four 4-wheel drive system.

Toyota has not announced detailed specifications, only confirming that this version will have an exclusive Sport mode. Meanwhile, the regular versions of the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross line in Japan only use a hybrid engine with a smaller 1.8L gasoline engine.

If you want to add more “war” to the Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport, buyers can buy GR Parts accessories such as a sportier body kit with a large front splitter, extended side skirts and a redesigned rear bumper. Notably, the car does not have a large rear spoiler, showing that Toyota has restrained a bit.

Other GR Parts accessories include side window rain guards, carbon-look door handle protectors, carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic license plate frames, wheel valve covers and GR-branded floor mats. Customers can also opt for chassis braces to reduce vibrations and improve handling.

Finally, there is the upgrade package from Modellista, which applies to other versions of the Toyota Corolla Cross line. The Tech Elegant Style package adds body-colored aerodynamic details such as front/rear bumpers, side skirts and fender extensions. Besides, there is a chrome grille with matching borders and a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels with a premium style.

The new Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport is scheduled to hit dealerships in Japan on August 4 with a starting price of 3,895,000 yen (about 801 million VND). The standard version of the car starts at 2,760,000 yen (496 million VND) for the front-wheel drive version and 3,019,000 yen (543 million VND) for the AWD version.
