According to the Electricity Department, in the first 6 months of 2025, the total electricity output of the entire national system is estimated at 156.4 billion kWh, 3.04% higher than the same period in 2024. The largest consumption capacity of the national power system reached 51,672 MW recorded on June 2, 2025, 5.7% higher than the same period in 2024. Electricity supply in the first 6 months of the year has successfully completed the set target, well meeting the needs of socio -economic development thanks to detailed preparation from the planning for the whole year, each quarter and for the dry season, and monthly updates and adjustments in accordance with the practical situation.
At the meeting, representatives of provinces and cities reported on the situation of electricity supply in 2025, investment in upgrading grid infrastructure, power source projects, difficulties and obstacles; the development of the electricity supply plan in 2026, promoting the progress of key power source and grid projects. Groups, General Corporations and affiliated units reported on assigned investment projects, progress, difficulties and obstacles, proposed solutions, etc.
In Ben Tre, the province has directed the sectors to closely coordinate with the electricity sector since the end of last year to forecast and develop a power supply plan for the following year in the spirit of the direction of the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade . Thereby, it has promptly provided safe and stable power, contributing to socio-economic development and people's lives.
The province has invested in upgrading the power grid, reducing power loss, improving the reliability of power supply, and the entire political system has directed the implementation of 110kV power grid projects in the area. To date, 4/6 110kV projects have been completed. The province has 9 wind power projects that have completed basic construction and installation with a total installed capacity of 365.9 MW, of which 250.75/365.9 MW have been commercially operated...
In his concluding remarks, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said: Although the demand for electricity has increased recently due to economic growth, sufficient electricity supply has been ensured for socio-economic development and people's lives.
The Minister requested power generation, transmission and distribution units to proactively develop and implement operation, maintenance and repair plans so that plants are at their highest readiness, limiting incidents due to subjective causes. Update and closely assess weather and hydrological conditions, closely coordinate with local authorities and management agencies to operate the reservoir system flexibly and effectively, ensuring the safety of power projects during the rainy and stormy season. Speed up the construction progress of key power source and grid projects. Strengthen propaganda and encourage the safe, economical and efficient use of electricity.
Regarding the 2026 electricity supply plan, the Minister emphasized that there must be absolutely no imbalance in electricity supply and demand, compliance with legal regulations, optimization of electricity purchase costs and for the common benefit of the country. Corporations and investors of thermal power plants are responsible for providing complete and accurate input information, maintenance and repair plans.
