Real Madrid 'ties' Bellingham with 1 billion euro compensation fee

Real Madrid's homepage has officially announced the signing of 19-year-old player Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

Last week, Real Madrid reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Bellingham but did not officially complete the contract on June 7. It was not until the afternoon of June 14 that the contract between the two teams was officially completed when the "White Vulture" homepage made an announcement.

Bellingham's image was posted on Real Madrid's homepage.

Dortmund have previously confirmed that Madrid have agreed to pay them €103m plus €30m in add-ons, making it one of the most expensive transfers in the history of both clubs.

This also makes the English midfielder the third most valuable contract in Real Madrid's history, after Eden Hazard (115 million euros) and Gareth Bale (101 million euros).

On the other hand, the value of this contract also helps the 19-year-old midfielder become the second most valuable player in England after Jack Grealish.

The Englishman's contract will include a €1bn release clause and will be second only to Eden Hazard's €400,000-a-week salary before leaving Real Madrid at the end of the 2022-23 season. Before the deal was officially announced, The Guardian expected Bellingham to earn around €10-12m a year.

On June 15, Bellingham will be officially introduced at a press conference with Real Madrid.

Before joining Dortmund in 2020, Bellingham grew up at Birmingham City Club. At 16 years and 38 days, the English player was promoted to the first team and became the youngest player in Birmingham City's history.

After joining the German side, the 19-year-old scored on his debut for Dortmund fans and became the club's youngest ever goalscorer at the age of 17 years and 77 days, and was subsequently called up to the England squad.

At Dortmund, Bellingham played 42 games and scored 14 goals last season in all competitions.
