Korean Runner Quang Tran approached sub 2:30 with a time of 2 hours 30 minutes 54 seconds when participating in the Seoul Marathon on the morning of March 17.
This achievement broke Quang's old record (PR) by nine minutes. The runner from Binh Dinh revealed that he had prepared for two months to achieve this result.

Besides Quang Tran, a group of Vietnamese elites also competed in the Seoul Marathon. Many of them set new PRs. Quang Nguyen clocked 2 hours 38 minutes 49 seconds, beating the old record by about 5 minutes. Runner Cao Ha clocked 2 hours 38 minutes 40 seconds, beating the old record by about 6 minutes. These are members of the Swimming, Cycling and Running Club.
Runners from the LDR Club also achieved good results. Runner Nam Nguyen achieved 2 hours 50 minutes 22 seconds, Phuong Dao achieved 2 hours 51 minutes 14 seconds, Tanh Nguyen achieved 2 hours 53 minutes 59 seconds, and Tran Nhan achieved 2 hours 56 minutes 34 seconds.
Recently, many Vietnamese runners have invested heavily in overseas competitions, hoping to experience the atmosphere of top marathons. On March 3, runner Hua Thuan Long became the first Vietnamese to run sub-2:30 in a major marathon. He clocked 2 hours 29 minutes 55 seconds at the Tokyo Marathon.
The Seoul Marathon is one of the world's top 10 marathons, held annually since 1931. This year, the race attracted 38,000 runners from 79 countries. The victory belonged to Ethiopian runner Jemal Yimer Mekonnen with a time of 2 hours 6 minutes 9 seconds. This is the third consecutive year that the Seoul Marathon has seen a champion from Ethiopia.
