BPO - The Buddha's birthday celebration of Buddhist calendar 2569, solar calendar 2025 in Binh Phuoc province officially took place on April 12 and 13, At Ty year (May 9 and 10, 2025) at Phat Quoc Van Thanh pagoda, Hung Chien ward, Binh Long town with many activities and rich and solemn programs. This year's Buddha's birthday season is marked as the 4th time Vietnam has hosted the United Nations Vesak, so the atmosphere of celebrating the birthday across the country is also more bustling, solemn and profound, including Binh Phuoc.

Brilliant flower car to celebrate Buddha's birthday

Leaving an impression and attracting the attention of the people is the Buddha's birthday flower car parade on the afternoon of May 9, 2025 on the streets of Binh Long town and Chon Thanh town. This is also the first program in a series of activities to celebrate the great festival. After offering incense at Binh Long Martyrs' Cemetery, Tan Khai commune, Hon Quan district, the group began to move mainly on National Highway 13 to Chon Thanh town, some streets in Binh Long town and returned to Phat Quoc Van Thanh pagoda. The total journey of the parade is about 60km. Every place the Buddha's birthday flower car parade passes through leaves a joyful and deep feeling in the hearts of the people of Binh Phuoc and other provinces and cities.

Phan Dang Thao Vy from Long Phuoc Ward, Phuoc Long Town traveled a long way to be present at this year's Buddha's Birthday float parade. Thao Vy is currently a student studying in Ho Chi Minh City. When she learned that this year's festival was quite special, she arranged her study schedule to come from Ho Chi Minh City to join in the atmosphere of the festival. In her opinion, the floats were very beautiful and the Organizing Committee had prepared very carefully, from the flower wreaths, Buddha statues and songs, creating a very exciting atmosphere.

Ms. Vo Thi Thuy in An Phu Thinh commune, Chau Thanh district, Dong Thap province excitedly shared: I really like to welcome the Buddha's birthday parade every year. This year I decided to go to Binh Phuoc to see what the atmosphere is like here. I have been here for a week now and I am very excited to wait for the parade to pass by, I am very excited, many cars are beautifully decorated, going on the parade is very joyful.

To participate in the parade, the Executive Committees of districts, towns and cities mobilized local monasteries to make at least one main float. However, some districts had up to 10 large and small floats accompanying the procession. Depending on the conditions, the floats were decorated in many different ways but did not go beyond the three main contents, including images of the anniversaries of the Buddha's birth, enlightenment and nirvana.

Venerable Thich Duc Tri, Duc Bon A Lan Nha Pagoda, Duc Lieu Commune, Bu Dang District, said that the pagoda also pays great attention and puts a lot of heart into each Buddha's birthday flower car participating in the parade. Focusing on the content of the flower car is aimed at bringing Buddhism closer and deeper to the community, including Buddhists as well as everyone, so that the spirit and beauty of Buddhism is closer and more practical to the community.

The theme of this year's Vesak is "Solidarity and tolerance for human dignity: Buddhist wisdom for world peace and sustainable development". This is also the message with a profound humanistic meaning that the Buddhist community wants to send to the whole world. Venerable Thich Nguyen Tu, Head of the Buddhist Dharma Council of Binh Phuoc province, informed that this year's float parade is more magnificent than last year, the spirit of the United Nations Vesak Festival from Ho Chi Minh City is transmitted to Binh Phuoc very positively. The organizing committee of this year's Vesak Festival wishes to send to Buddhists near and far, to all those who have faith, love and respect for the Buddha, the Buddha's teachings that love always exists.

More than 100 Buddha's birthday floats from 11 executive committees and Buddhist families from districts, towns and cities in the province created a colorful parade. Each float carried the belief in a peaceful and happy life. And the Buddha's birthday season is also the season to strongly spread the spirit of love, compassion and solidarity to everyone.

Candle lighting ceremony for national peace and prosperity

Also last night, May 9, at Phat Quoc Van Thanh Pagoda, Hung Chien Ward, Binh Long Town, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Binh Phuoc Province solemnly held a candle lighting ceremony - chanting the Dharmachakra to pray for world peace and happiness. This is a spiritual activity in a series of activities to celebrate Buddha's birthday, Buddhist calendar 2569, solar calendar 2025.

With the joy of Buddhists during the Buddha's birthday season, each candle flickering on the statue of the Buddha's birth is offered in reverence and solemnity. Each chant echoes in place of the prayers of monks, nuns, and Buddhists, guiding people to build faith in good things and good wishes.

Ho Thu Truc, a student in An Loc ward, Binh Long town, also sent her good wishes to her family and everyone. She hopes that her family will always be happy as it is now, her parents will have better health and her studies will be more favorable.

Each lighted lamp symbolizes the enlightened source of wisdom, the more open human soul, knowing how to love, support each other to develop together, contributing to creating a peaceful and happy world.

Immediately after the candle lighting ceremony, an art program to celebrate Buddha's birthday was presented by singers and artists from Ho Chi Minh City to the Venerables and enjoyed by more than 500 Buddhists. The art performances were themed to praise the compassionate and wise spirit of Buddhism and the homeland.
