Recently, HYBE's official YouTube channel posted the documentary "Make It Look Easy" by Kpop girl group LE SSERAFIM.
This documentary chronicles LE SSERAFIM's time over the past year, from practicing on stage in late 2022 to preparing for their 3rd mini album "EASY" to be released in 2024.
Among them, member Sakura's segment attracted attention. According to Sports Chosun, Sakura cried and regretted her decision to become an idol. The female idol also revealed that she lost her confidence because of criticism.
She shed tears over the difficulties of training and said: “I don’t understand why I chose to be an idol. Is it necessary?
It's not that choosing to become an idol was a wrong decision, but I wondered if being an idol was really the best job for me. Whenever I made a mistake, I thought that if I had chosen a different path, I could have been good at something else too.”
Sakura continued: "No matter what anyone says, what makes me feel most excited and happy is this job. So I feel it's not right for me to doubt and question myself because I don't have talent.
At first I didn't think like that, but when I heard what people said, sometimes I thought for a long time. Then I wondered why I had to cry and struggle so much but still chose to be an idol like that."
However, Korean audiences reacted quite negatively to these shares.
Despite Sakura’s tears, netizens hardly felt any pity for an idol who made a lot of money doing something others could only dream of. Netizens criticized both Sakura and HYBE for playing the victim.
Some viewers commented on Nate:
“Then she should quit. Expressing emotions like that doesn't mean her vocal ability has improved. It's serious that she sings worse than an average person.”
“If she chooses a career that is in the public eye, she should give it her all. It's like she's mocking her fans.”
“If a singer can't sing, what's the difference between him and a dancer?"
In the online community, Sakura's musical skills also received much criticism.
