The cultural exchange and tourism connection program between Lam Dong (Vietnam) and Ladakh (India) took place from December 27 to 30, 2023. On December 29, the event "Connecting and promoting tourism in Lam Dong and Ladakh - Ideal destinations for tourists from Vietnam and India" was held at Samten Hills Dalat (Don Duong District, Lam Dong). Representatives of the two sides' authorities had a working session and closely assessed the potential for cooperation in developing tourism products. Ladakh highly appreciated the natural conditions, climate as well as the comprehensive investment of the locality. A typical example is Samten Hills Dalat, a project that has vividly recreated Vajrayana Buddhism - a sacred connection point between the two lands.
With abundant tourism resources, a temperate climate, many beautiful natural landscapes and valuable heritages, Lam Dong has all the elements to develop spiritual and cultural tourism. The most special is Samten Hills Dalat with the Great Stupa of the Prayer Wheel, the world's largest prayer wheel recognized by Guinness World Records. The event "Connecting and promoting tourism in Lam Dong and Ladakh - Ideal destinations for tourists from Vietnam and India" was honored to welcome Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi - Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi shared: "India is promoting investment and trade with Vietnam. After this event, we are committed to promoting Samten Hills Dalat, Lam Dong province as well as Vietnam to our people. In addition, we will coordinate and share about the travel habits of Indians so that Vietnamese travel agencies and destinations can attract tourists from India. Along with that, we support direct flights from India to Lam Dong ".
At the event, Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai, Deputy Director of Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: " Vietnam and India have a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Taking this opportunity, Lam Dong province and Ladakh have a friendly relationship established by the leaders of the two localities. On that basis, with the spirit of cooperation and development in the field of tourism; market research, investment attraction connection in the field of tourism - services; sharing tourism development experience of Ladakh - India; thereby contributing to the development of Lam Dong tourism in the direction of high quality and sustainability ".
Several MOUs (Memorandum of Understanding) have been signed between Samten Hills Dalat Cultural and Spiritual Tourism Area, Pini Tourist Complex and Lam Dong Tourism (Dalat Tourist) and Ladakh Tourism Associations.
Mr. Advocate Tashi Gyalson, Councilor, Chairman of Ladakh Union Territory, Ladakh Leh Development Council, shared: " We thank Vietnam, Lam Dong province and Samten Hills Dalat for connecting and giving us this precious opportunity. On behalf of the Ladakh people, I am honored to introduce our diverse cultural colors to Vietnam. Besides, I also want to say that we Ladakh people love and have come to Vietnam. I think this program is a strong step forward for both sides to exchange and learn not only about tourism culture but also many other aspects such as economy, agriculture, etc. ".
Highly appreciated by the Governments of Vietnam and India for the cooperation between the two countries as well as the opportunity to connect and exchange cultures between Lam Dong and Ladakh, on this important occasion, Vietnamese tourism businesses and Ladakh businesses will have a ceremony to sign memorandums of understanding to realize close cooperation in the future, the connection between businesses and tourism companies between the two countries.
