Previously, according to information from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Lai Chau province, at around 10:30 a.m. on May 16, at the Ta Pao Ho 1A hydropower project, in Lao Chai village, Si Lo Lau commune, Phong Tho district (Lai Chau province), a landslide occurred (more than ^200m3 ).

As of about 11:20 a.m. today (May 17), 4 victims' bodies have been found, 1 person is still missing.

After the incident, the Military Region 2 Command directed the Lai Chau Provincial Military Command to coordinate with the Lai Chau Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue to develop a plan and solution to search for missing people, ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles participating.

Forces urgently searched for victims.

The search for buried victims was urgently deployed with more than 280 people mobilized by the Military Region 2 Command.
