Tan Son Nhat Airport welcomes more than 136,000 passengers on the 3rd day of Tet

Kinhtedothi - Although it is only half way through the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday, Tan Son Nhat Airport has become crowded due to the number of people returning to Ho Chi Minh City early. According to statistics, on January 31 (the third day of Tet), the number of passengers passing through Tan Son Nhat Airport reached more than 136,000.


According to records, from early morning, the number of passengers gathering at Tan Son Nhat airport on the 3rd day of Tet was quite crowded. In particular, at the domestic flight check-in counters, there were long lines of passengers waiting for quite a long time.

Similarly, the international terminal area is also crowded with foreign tourists going on spring trips. Accordingly, people mainly travel to countries in the region, such as Thailand, Taiwan, Korea...

Ms. Le Thi Truc (living in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City) said that because she could not buy a plane ticket on the 6th day of Tet, she had to return to Ho Chi Minh City earlier than expected.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quan (living in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City) and his family returned home from a trip to Da Nang and said that because they chose to open the store on the 6th day of Tet, they had to return to Ho Chi Minh City early to prepare for business in the first days of the new year.

A representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport said that on January 31 (the third day of the Lunar New Year), Tan Son Nhat Airport plans to operate nearly 900 flights, with more than 136,700 passengers.

According to statistics, there were nearly 77,000 passengers landing during the day, most of whom were domestic passengers with nearly 51,000 arrivals. There were 60,000 departures, of which 34,000 were domestic passengers. The peak arrival times during the day were spread out at 6am, 10am, 11am, 3pm and 5-8pm.

It is expected that the number of passengers passing through Tan Son Nhat Airport will start to increase again from the 4th day of Tet after the peak period serving passengers returning home before Tet At Ty. The number of passengers is expected to be more than 140,000/day.

 

According to information from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Tan Son Nhat Airport served a record high number of passengers during the Lunar New Year 2025. In the 7 days from January 28 (29th of Tet), Tan Son Nhat Airport served 6,100 flights and approximately 900,000 passengers, an increase of 8.7% in the number of flights and 4% in the number of passengers compared to the same period in the year of Giap Thin 2024.
