Based on the review, the Ministry of Education and Training has identified a number of subjects that are directly affected by the change of administrative boundaries, including: History and Geography for grades 4, 5, 8, and 9; Geography for grade 12; History for grade 10; Economic and legal education for grade 10. For example, the History and Geography textbook for grade 8 (Connecting knowledge with life), page 99, the extension section provides information about Phong Nha - Ke Bang cave (former Quang Binh province) which is no longer relevant to current reality because after the merger, the name of Quang Binh province no longer exists...
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, teachers and schools are given the right to proactively arrange learning topics, update and supplement content to suit the target students, teaching and learning conditions and practical conditions. Therefore, in the 2025-2026 school year, teachers and schools will continue to use the current curriculum and textbooks, and at the same time have the responsibility to proactively select and adjust teaching materials, lessons and topics to suit local realities and the 2-level local government model. Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training is urgently completing the review and assessment of the implementation of the 2018 GeneralEducation Program to update and adjust a number of subjects affected by administrative boundary adjustments.
Currently, publishers have directed member units to organize manuscripts and editorial boards to review and compile content related to changes in administrative boundaries in textbooks and report to the Ministry of Education and Training. Vietnam Education Publishing House said that after the Ministry of Education and Training issues revised and updated content in the curriculum of a number of subjects, the publisher will revise the textbooks and submit them to the Ministry of Education and Training for approval according to the correct procedure. Similarly, Vietnam Education Publishing and Equipment Investment Joint Stock Company (VEPIC) has mobilized editors-in-chief, editors, authors of the Canh Dieu textbook series, along with a team of editors and artists to review textbook names that need to be revised, make a list of points that need to be adjusted, and ensure accuracy in knowledge, data, place names, or administrative changes.
