Specifically, agricultural production in the month focused on planting and caring for rice, winter-spring and summer-autumn crops, while drastically and synchronously implementing measures to prevent and effectively control African swine fever, protecting and developing livestock and poultry nationwide. Forestry production mainly focused on afforestation and timber exploitation according to plan. Aquaculture continued to achieve good results, with aquatic exploitation slightly decreasing due to the impact of storm No. 3.

According to the General Statistics Office, as of July 20, 2025, the whole country had cultivated 1,209.6 thousand hectares of winter-spring rice, a decrease of 10.5 thousand hectares compared to the same period in 2024. Northern localities reached 841.8 thousand hectares, a decrease of 23.9 thousand hectares. Southern localities reached 367.8 thousand hectares, an increase of 13.3 thousand hectares due to less impact by saline intrusion, so people actively planted the maximum area.

Also as of July 20, 2025, the whole country has cultivated 1,893.9 thousand hectares of summer-autumn rice, a decrease of 7.4 thousand hectares compared to the same period in 2024. Northern localities reached 172.5 thousand hectares, a decrease of 1.5 thousand hectares; Southern localities reached 1,721.4 thousand hectares, a decrease of 5.9 thousand hectares. Currently, summer-autumn rice is in a relatively good growth and development period. To date, southern localities have harvested 590.8 thousand hectares of early summer-autumn rice, accounting for 34.3% of the sown area and equal to 98.9% of the same period in 2024.

Regarding autumn-winter rice, as of July 20, 2025, southern localities have planted 313,400 hectares of early autumn-winter rice, an increase of 20,800 hectares compared to the same period in 2024, mainly due to some localities increasing the area on the basis of early summer-autumn rice harvest. Currently, autumn-winter rice is in the tillering, heading, and growing and developing stages.

The General Statistics Office pointed out that along with rice cultivation, localities across the country are planting crops. However, the area of some annual crops has mainly decreased compared to the same period in 2024 due to low economic efficiency.

Regarding livestock, buffalo and cattle farming continued to decline mainly due to a shortage of green feed sources, high input costs, while output prices were unstable, forcing farmers to reduce their scale or change their production methods. Pig farming faced difficulties due to the complicated developments of African swine fever, with 571 outbreaks nationwide with nearly 73,500 pigs dead and culled in the month, mainly breaking out in small-scale farms and recurring from old outbreaks.

Currently, localities are focusing on implementing drastic measures to prevent, combat and effectively control epidemics. Poultry farming has developed stably thanks to low investment costs, taking advantage of available feed sources, and stable demand for poultry meat and eggs in the market.

As of July 31, 2025, the whole country no longer has blue ear disease; avian influenza is still in Nghe An; lumpy skin disease is still in Dak Lak and Dong Thap; foot-and-mouth disease is still in Dak Lak and African swine fever is still in 31 localities that have not passed 21 days.

Statistics also show that the area of newly planted forests nationwide in July is estimated at 13.5 thousand hectares, down 1.6% over the same period in 2024; the number of scattered forest trees is 5.3 million, down 2.4%; the output of exploited timber is 2,107.5 thousand m3 , up 5.9% due to many localities exploiting planted forests to harvest. In the first 7 months of 2025, the area of newly planted forests is estimated at 164.4 thousand hectares, up 15.1% over the same period in 2024; the number of scattered forest trees is 53.9 million, up 2.1%; the output of exploited timber is 13.2 million m3, up 7.6%.

Notably, the aquatic product output in July is estimated at 949.3 thousand tons, up 3% over the same period in 2024. The output of aquaculture products in the month is estimated at 603.3 thousand tons, up 5.1% over the same period in 2024. The output of exploited aquatic products in the month is estimated at 346.0 thousand tons, down 0.3% over the same period in 2024 due to the impact of storm No. 3, which prevented ships and boats from going to sea, reducing fishing output. The output of exploited aquatic products is estimated at 333.2 thousand tons, down 0.3% over the same period in 2024. In the first 7 months of 2025, the aquatic product output is estimated at 5,500.0 thousand tons, up 3.1% over the same period in 2024.
