On the afternoon of November 28, at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Tien Phong Newspaper in collaboration with the Central Council of Young Pioneers, the National Innovation Center, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and accompanying units held a press conference to announce the National STEM, AI and Robotics Championship for the 2025-2026 school year.
Attending the press conference were Dr. Thai Van Tai, Director of the General Education Department ( Ministry of Education and Training ); Mr. Le Hai Long, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Youth Union, Permanent Vice President of the Central Council of Young Pioneers; Journalist Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien, Deputy Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Co-Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, along with representatives of sponsors, partners, top 5 Miss Vietnam beauties; teachers and students from schools in Hanoi and other localities attending the program.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Le Hai Long emphasized: The establishment of the National STEM, AI and Robotics Championship (VSAR) has created a useful science and technology playground for students, and is a specific activity in implementing the policy of bringing creative, innovative and digital transformation activities into depth, contributing to preparing high-quality human resources for the country right from when students are still in school.

“When the competition officially starts, students will be passionate about designing, creating, assembling robots, calculating aerodynamics, or programming artificial intelligence to solve real-life problems. We will see the image of talented scientists and engineers of the future of the country,” said Mr. Hai Long.
The organizers have made efforts to build a modern, large-scale playground, creating opportunities for Vietnamese youth to confidently step out into the open sea.
Mr. Le Hai Long advised students growing up in the digital age, where the boundaries between the real and virtual worlds are increasingly blurred. Technology brings opportunities, but also challenges. When coming to VSAR, students should bring with them the spirit: "Learn to master, create to serve".
Every line of code you write, every product you create today is an inspiration, a foundation to build your own future and that of the country. “On that journey, don’t let the fear of making mistakes hold back your exploration. Be brave and nurture your passion to turn your ideas and dreams into reality,” he said.

Journalist Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, shared that Tien Phong Newspaper, with its capacity and experience in organizing many national-scale events in recent years, has left many positive marks in the lives of young people and people across the country. In the 2024-2025 school year, the first VSAR season was successful, attracting a large number of students to participate, creating a widespread ripple effect, arousing the passion for discovery and the spirit of mastering knowledge of the young generation.
Following that success, this year's competition is organized on a larger scale, with richer content and extensive support from professional units. Each competition and challenge is designed for students to create, experiment, collaborate and transform knowledge into models and products of practical value, linked to the country's development orientations.

Thereby, the contest contributes to practically implementing the spirit of Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation; Resolution 71 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development.
Journalist Phung Cong Suong emphasized that the theme “Energy for the Future” of this year’s competition has two layers of meaning. It is energy in the true scientific sense: wind power, solar power, energy-saving technology, the models that students will research and simulate on the sand table. But more deeply, it is the spiritual energy that is spreading among the young generation of Vietnam: the spirit of creativity, the desire to contribute, the desire to contribute to building the country’s future in the digital age. That energy is in harmony with the country’s strong transformation.
For students, he said, the contest is an experimental playground for creative young people who dare to try new ideas and persevere in pursuing their own journey of discovery.
“Each creative model, whether successful or not, is a valuable step that brings you closer to your dreams. The future will be built from the seeds of ideas today, and from your own aspiration to contribute and serve the country with knowledge, creativity and responsibility,” he said.
Specifying STEM education content
Dr. Thai Van Tai, Director of the General Education Department (Ministry of Education and Training) thanked the Organizing Committee for concretizing the content that the Ministry of Education and Training is implementing in the industry. That is the general education program aimed at developing students' capacity, and to form capacity, students must have an experiential environment, from which they can discover their interests and passions. In class, teachers help form knowledge for students.

But without practical activities like this, that knowledge will only remain in the head. In the coming time, STEM activities will be deployed synchronously from the grassroots level. The Ministry of Education and Training has previously issued many instructions to innovate teaching methods and assessment.
“In fact, in recent years, students participating in international science and technology competitions have achieved very good results, which includes the role of teachers in innovating teaching methods, and many students in the team have gained experience and grown from playgrounds like this,” said Mr. Thai Van Tai.
Create motivation and passion for scientific discovery
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Co-Head of the Organizing Committee, shared that the unit has about 200 laboratories, including many robotics and AI laboratories. In enrollment, Hanoi University of Science and Technology always wants to attract students with good abilities in the best fields related to STEM, robotics, AI and the "hottest" programs are: Computer Science, Data Science and AI.

“STEM training is currently being promoted by the Party and the State through resolutions and is also the golden key that opens the door to national development.”, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien emphasized and said that when participating in co-organizing the program, Hanoi University of Science and Technology hopes to create a useful playground, so that students are motivated to study, gradually forming a passion and desire to explore science. During the competition, high school students are trained in the most core skills, including teamwork, creating a good foundation for them.
For the final round contestants, if they wish, the unit will arrange dormitories for the contestants to stay in order to create favorable conditions for them. For the prize-winning students, the unit also has the view of adding bonus points in the talent selection section.
Ms. Kim Ngoc Thanh Nga, Deputy Director of NIC, said that as a co-organizer of the competition, we hope to build high-quality human resources for Vietnam in the next 10 years. And today's students are the human resources of the future. With the foundation of science and technology, innovation, STEM... will be an important first step to help them take firm steps in the future.
Will AI replace humans?
During the exchange session, Do Thanh Phat, a student at Nguyen Trai Secondary School, asked a difficult question: "Can this contest prove that humans cannot be replaced by AI?
Responding to students, Mr. Le Hai Long said that humans will always master AI and certainly AI will not replace humans because AI is created by humans. We are taking measures to use AI to solve global problems and the solutions are also to serve humans. It is you, the young generation today, who are provided with knowledge, creating a learning environment, and training to master AI through the intellectual playground.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Viet Khoi, Vice Principal of the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts (VNU Hanoi) said, when the internet first appeared, those who did not use it would be left behind. The same goes for AI, it will replace those who do not know how to use it. And that is why we have competitions to deeply understand and cultivate AI in our own way.
Candidates are given maximum support
The organizers also said that students in disadvantaged areas were also supported to study online about AI, virtual robots, and interact with students from specialized schools in Hanoi. The competition has spread, instilled spirit and motivation to students in disadvantaged areas.

Mr. Bui Van Phuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tien Phong Company, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee shared information that the Organizing Committee waived all exam fees for students with the desire to spread, attract, and create conditions for students nationwide, including favorable and difficult areas, to participate.
In addition, the competition also has accompanying units that are organizing many STEM and robotics clubs so that students can participate in regular activities.
This year's competition, themed "Energy for the Future", will take place from November 2025 to April 2026, for high school students nationwide. By participating in the competition, students will experience and apply interdisciplinary knowledge into practice through lively and age-appropriate challenges. With a diverse competition content system, VSAR contributes to promoting innovation in educational methods, supporting schools to effectively implement STEM education and helping students develop digital competencies in the context of the country's strong transformation towards digitalization.
