Minister Nguyen Van Hung speaks at the ceremony
Summarize to see what difficulties and problems need to be overcome
Warmly praising and congratulating the Vietnamese Sports Delegation for overcoming difficulties to achieve excellent results at the 32nd SEA Games, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that he would not review the results that the Vietnamese Sports Delegation had achieved. The efforts, endeavors and achievements of the entire delegation have been recognized by the Party, State, National Assembly , Government and People. Immediately after the delegation returned, President Vo Van Thuong met and commended the entire delegation. The National Assembly also evaluated and recognized this achievement. In the Government's report summarizing the first 6 months of the year, on a national scale, the achievements of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 32nd SEA Games were mentioned as a mark. These are comprehensive and profound assessments that the Party and State have given to the Vietnamese Sports Delegation attending the 32nd SEA Games.
The Minister also emphasized that the important thing is that after each congress, we have learned something, what we appreciate for the development path in the coming time, such as the lessons we have learned after successfully organizing the 31st SEA Games. Overall, in recent years, Vietnamese sports have known how to rely on two main pillars: mass sports and high-performance sports. Doing well through mass sports, we have discovered typical cores, outstanding talents to select, train and develop for high-performance sports. In addition, we have closely followed the guidelines, policies and strategies of the Party, State, National Assembly and Government to give timely, accurate and appropriate advice, thereby receiving attention and taking advantage of resources from all levels, sectors and localities to develop the sports career.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong, and Director Dang Ha Viet awarded the Prime Minister's Certificates of Merit to outstanding athletes.
The Minister assessed that the success of the 32nd SEA Games also came from the fact that we analyzed strengths and weaknesses, selected suitable sports, and approached the Olympic and Asian Games to not only stop at the regional arena but also aim for larger arenas. Regarding training, we also started to approach early, from afar, choosing good teachers and coaches to have good students and good athletes.
“What needs to be appreciated and commended is that the athletes have promoted their bravery and will of steel, their confidence, their mastery of techniques and tactics, and most importantly, their desire to compete with all their might for the country’s flag and colors. When competing at the 32nd SEA Games, each of our athletes was not only a sports athlete but also a cultural ambassador. Thanks to their cultured and civilized behavior, our athletes have made their mark, won great support from international friends, and contributed to spreading love and good things. Since then, Vietnamese athletes have been supported by international friends and especially Cambodian audiences during their competition at the 32nd SEA Games,” Minister Nguyen Van Hung commended and suggested that the Department of Physical Training and Sports promote and deepen those good things to prepare more carefully and thoroughly for the 33rd SEA Games to achieve higher results.
The Minister also requested the Department of Physical Education and Sports, after the closing ceremony, to see what difficulties and problems we still have to overcome and prepare better for the next congresses. The Minister reminded the industry not to rest on its laurels, not to rest on its laurels, and to learn lessons to be more successful in the upcoming journey.
“We will close the 32nd SEA Games with a closing ceremony to find a way forward for the upcoming competitions, first of all the 19th Asian Games. Of the 40 sports of the Games, we must proactively calculate and review our strengths and how many sports and competition contents we can participate in. Departments under the Department and National Sports Training Centers need to immediately start building a plan to participate in the Games, closely coordinate with Federations, Associations, and localities, and take advantage of additional resources to prepare well for the Games. We will participate in the 19th Asian Games with a spirit of determination, initiative, and deep integration with international friends, and Vietnamese sports must demonstrate the spirit of patriotism and the will to be self-reliant and self-reliant of the nation. In order to compete successfully, bring joy of victory, and create spiritual motivation for the people of the whole country. Vietnamese sports have tried, need to try harder, have tried, need to try harder to complete the assigned tasks. "We will fulfill the expectations that the Party, State and people have entrusted us with," Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized.

Head of delegation Dang Ha Viet reported at the ceremony
With the achievement of 359 medals of all kinds, including 136 gold medals, 105 silver medals, 118 bronze medals, breaking 12 records and setting 4 SEA Games records, Vietnamese Sports has made history by winning the first place overall for the first time at a Games held in a foreign country, along with a number of sports that have also gone down in history, including the national women's football team successfully defending the SEA Games championship for the 4th consecutive time; Olympic sports (Golf, 3 x 3 Basketball) won gold medals for the first time at the SEA Games, marking the map of achievements of the Games...
Of the total 39 sports and disciplines that the Vietnamese Sports Delegation competed in at the Games, 37 sports and disciplines won medals, of which 33 sports and disciplines won gold medals. The sports in the Olympic competition system (21 sports) won 65 gold medals (accounting for 47.8% of the total gold medals); 06 sports in the ASIAD competition program won 18 gold medals (accounting for 13.2%). In particular, many athletes competed excellently in Olympic sports, such as: track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh won four gold medals in the events: 1,500m; 3,000m obstacle course, 5,000m and 10,000m; athlete Pham Thanh Bao won two gold medals and broke two SEA Games records in swimming; athletes Tran Hung Nguyen and Nguyen Huy Hoang won three gold medals in swimming; Weightlifter Nguyen Quoc Toan won a gold medal and broke three records in the 32nd SEA Games (snatch, clean and jerk and total), especially the youngest athlete of the Vietnamese sports delegation, Le Khanh Hung, won a gold medal and a silver medal in golf. This shows that the focus of investment in Vietnam Sports continues to be on the right track.
Athletes at the ceremony
In addition to the successful competition of the teams in general and each athlete in particular, there is a significant contribution from localities and units in selecting and training national athletes. In addition to localities and units with traditions and high achievements in basic sports such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, the People's Public Security, and the Army, many more localities have focused on investing in developing sports in the Olympic and ASIAD competition programs such as Bac Giang, Nam Dinh, Phu Yen, Binh Phuoc (Athletics), Thanh Hoa (Wrestling, Judo, Karate), Quang Binh, Ben Tre (Swimming), Bac Lieu, An Giang (Weightlifting)... This demonstrates the effectiveness of the policy on orienting the development of high-performance sports, the coordination between the Central and local governments in investing, promoting and developing key sports in Vietnam in recent times.
“We have witnessed the determined and dedicated spirit of the female football players or the will and spirit of the athletes of the Athletics team, martial arts, swimming and many athletes with extraordinary will and determination have overcome everything to win prestigious gold medals to bring glory to the Fatherland. Through this Congress, many young athletes in the Olympic and ASIAD groups have also shown outstanding achievements in sports such as: Swimming, Golf... and many other athletes, although they have not won medals, have achievements close to medal achievements. These are talents preparing for future Games, especially the upcoming 19th ASIAD held in China”, said Head of the delegation Dang Ha Viet.

According to Head of Delegation Dang Ha Viet, whether they won medals that brought glory to the Fatherland or did not achieve the expected results, most of the athletes and coaches of the Vietnam Sports Delegation always showed a spirit of solidarity, high determination, belief and extraordinary competitive spirit. This is the "Vietnamese" spirit and a victory in the hearts of fans and people across the country. After each medal won and after each victory of the sports team; in addition to the joy and happiness of the athletes and coaches, the Vietnam Sports Delegation also received and lived in happiness with the timely congratulations and encouragement of the leaders of the Party, the State, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with the encouragement of fans and people across the country, as if to give the athletes more strength to continue competing to win many medals and achievements for the delegation until the last day of the Congress.
Head of the delegation Dang Ha Viet also frankly admitted that although Vietnamese Sports have achieved excellent results, leading the Southeast Asian region at this SEA Games, those are only results in the Southeast Asian arena and there is still a gap to achieve higher results at the Olympics and the next ASIADs. Therefore, in order for Vietnamese Sports to achieve higher results at continental and Olympic arenas, there needs to be higher investment in conditions of facilities, training and competition equipment, regimes and policies for athletes and sports coaches, especially investment and upgrading of National Sports Training Centers, National Sports Complexes and local facilities towards Vietnam being able to host larger continental Games in the future such as ASIAD.
With the achievements, the Vietnam Sports Delegation has completed and excellently fulfilled its mission as well as the promise to the Party, the State and the people before leaving for the Congress. With the achievements, the Vietnam Sports Delegation has been awarded 01 Second Class Labor Medal, 37 Third Class Labor Medals, 196 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister for groups and individuals with outstanding achievements at the 32nd SEA Games...
