After undergoing hand surgery earlier this year following a freak accident, Scottie Scheffler is back to his best form. He just won his third match in a month.

The world No. 1's latest victory came at the Memorial Tournament, one of the PGA Tour's most important events.

“It was a tough week,” said Scheffler. “We fought a lot at the weekend. Overall, it was a great week.”

Scheffler started the Memorial Tournament with great consistency. He finished under par for the first two days. In the third round, he shot 68 (under par) and took the lead.

On the decisive final Sunday, when Scheffler was in the top spot, it was difficult to surpass him. He added -2 points to conquer glory.

In one of the toughest PGA Tour tests of the year, Scheffler made just one bogey in the final 40 holes at Muirfield Village.

“Wow, you did it again,” tournament organizer Jack Nicklaus praised as Scottie stepped off the green.

Ben Griffin tried to create drama at the end with an eagle from 12 feet at the par-5 15th and a birdie from 25 feet at the par-3 16th, cutting the gap to two strokes with two holes to go.

However, Scheffler made no mistake. Meanwhile, Griffin was under psychological pressure and had a double bogey at hole 17.

Scheffler became the first man, since Tiger Woods , to successfully defend his Memorial Tournament title.

Woods had a streak of 3 consecutive wins in the period 1999-2021, in a total of 5 crowns.

This latest victory helps Scheffler continue to widen the gap at the world No. 1 position to a level not seen since Woods' peak.

Scheffler’s recent performances have been reminiscent of Nicklaus, in the way he wears down opponents with his consistency and infrequent mistakes. “He plays like I did when I was at my best,” the legend himself said before the tournament began.

For Scheffler, this is his fifth win at a $20 million Signature Event in just two years. This latest title earned him $4 million.

Winning three of his last four events, tying for fourth the other time, Scheffler is confident heading into the US Open - the third major of the season, starting June 12.
