On June 2, speaking with VietNamNet , Ms. NTD, a parent of a 12A7 student at Einstein High School (29 Nguyen Trai, Gia Vien Ward, Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong City) said that in the 4th period on the morning of May 27, the female Math teacher slapped her daughter in the face and scolded her for being “stupid, ignorant, and lazy…” in front of the whole class.
The incident was recorded by a surveillance camera in the classroom. When she returned home, Ms. D's daughter showed signs of psychological trauma, burst into tears during dinner and said that because she did her homework wrong, she was slapped in the face and insulted by teacher N.
After hearing her daughter's story, Ms. D. called the homeroom teacher to discuss the incident and asked for the Math teacher's phone number. The Math teacher called Ms. D.'s daughter to the vice principal's office to apologize.
Ms. D. called and asked the Math teacher to publicly apologize to her child in front of the class because "where there is a beating, there must be an apology" to restore the child's honor.

The next day (May 28), Ms. D. went to the school to meet the principal but waited for several hours without being able to meet her to submit her petition and her daughter's report. Ms. D. asked the security guard to forward the letter to the principal along with her contact phone number; at the same time, she submitted a complaint to the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training and Gia Vien Ward Police.
After submitting the application, Ms. D. received many phone calls from her homeroom teacher, math teacher, and vice principal. The math teacher even asked her, "You don't remember who you hit?"
On the evening of May 28, the vice principal, the homeroom teacher and the math teacher went to Ms. D's house to admit their mistakes, ask for forgiveness and ask the parents to withdraw the complaint.
“When they admitted their mistake, I agreed but asked the Math teacher to apologize publicly to my child in front of the class, then talk to the school principal and withdraw the complaint,” said Ms. D.
On the morning of May 29, Ms. D. was present at the office of Ms. Dong Hoa - Principal of Einstein High School. However, according to her, the principal's tone was unpleasant and uncooperative. When she was about to leave, the principal asked to continue the discussion. The principal said that Ms. D.'s family's petition to the Department of Education and Training and the Ward Police was hasty and had not been approved by the school. Ms. D. did not agree, saying that this was due to the school's unsatisfactory handling of the matter.
Regarding the incident at Einstein High School, a representative of the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training said that after receiving a petition from a student's parent reporting the incident, the Department worked with relevant parties to verify the information.
At the meeting, the principal admitted that the school and he were wrong in their operations and behavior towards parents and students, and hoped that the families would forgive them.
The student's family has temporarily accepted the principal's apology but has not agreed to withdraw the petition because they are waiting for the school to correct the mistake.
On the morning of June 2, according to Ms. D, her daughter said that the Department Inspector came to the school to work and take statements from some students of class 12A7. The school is scheduled to hold a meeting with parents at 6:00 p.m. the same day to inform them about the incident in order to stabilize the psychology of students and parents.
