World gold price skyrockets, domestic price remains unchanged

The world gold price on the afternoon of June 5 skyrocketed by 30 USD, to 3,394 USD/ounce. The precious metal has increased by a total of 45.45%, equivalent to 1,060 USD/ounce. The reason is that the low USD price caused gold to increase, the USD-Index was at 98.72 points, down 0.1%.

Despite the increase in world prices, domestic gold prices remained unchanged after adding VND500,000 per tael at the beginning of the day. Because domestic prices have not changed, while world precious metals have increased rapidly, the expensiveness of domestic gold compared to the world has been shortened. SJC gold bars are only 10.5 million VND/tael higher than the world price, and gold rings are 7-9 million VND/tael higher.

Gold still has plenty of room to rise further in 2026, according to the leading precious metals consultancy Metals Focus, Gold Focus 2025. Analysts at the British research firm said they expect gold prices to average a record annual level of $3,210 this year, with a new high likely to be reached in the second half of the year. Gold has been on a solid upward trend since 2023, with demand largely driven by central bank purchases, with the bulk of investment coming from Asia, especially China. Central banks are expected to remain major players in the gold market. Central banks are expected to buy more than 1,000 tonnes of gold again this year, for the fourth consecutive year./.
