Cong Phuong suffered a contusion injury to the fatty tissue under the sole of his foot. Although the injury was not too serious, the urgent time frame prevented this striker from reaching his best physical condition to compete. It is expected that Cong Phuong will need about two weeks to fully recover and will return to the club to continue treatment today.

This is a very regrettable thing for Cong Phuong personally, as he has been making constant efforts to return to the national team after nearly 2 years of absence. Coach Kim Sang Sik also encouraged his student, and agreed to let Cong Phuong return to the club to ensure the best treatment process.

To ensure the strength of the attack, coach Kim Sang Sik decided to call up striker Nguyen Quoc Viet to the national team. Quoc Viet has the advantage of being a face that coach Kim Sang Sik has called up to the national team, and is also a key factor of U22 Vietnam, currently training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.

This striker born in 2003 is known by the nickname "King of Youth Tournaments" thanks to his impressive achievements in national youth tournaments, including winning the title of Top Scorer at the National U17, U19 and U21 tournaments. He used to play for the youth teams of Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Nutifood JMG clubs, before being promoted to the first team of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club to compete in V.league. At the beginning of the 2024 season, Quoc Viet moved to play for Phu Dong Ninh Binh Club in V.League 2, in order to find more playing opportunities and gain competition experience.

On the international stage, Quoc Viet has been a member of the U19, U20 and U23 Vietnam teams, participating in many important tournaments such as the Southeast Asian U23 Championship, SEA Games and the Asian U20 Finals. He is highly regarded for his technique, finishing ability and tactical thinking, promising to be a quality addition to the Vietnamese team's attack in the near future.

Cong Phuong is the latest name in the list of players called up by coach Kim Sang Sik due to injury. Previously, two players, Thanh Binh ( Viettel The Cong Club) and Bui Hoang Viet Anh (Hanoi Police Football Club) were both injured and could not join the training camp.

These two players were injured while serving the club. After medical examination, they were allowed by coach Kim Sang Sik to return to the club to recuperate. Instead, the Korean strategist summoned Dang Van Toi (Hai Phong Club) and Pham Ly Duc (Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club) to replace them.

According to the plan, on June 6, the Vietnam National Team will leave for Malaysia. The match between the Vietnam National Team and the Malaysia National Team will take place on the evening of June 10 (Vietnam time).
