Heavy rain continues to cause landslides in mountainous Nghe An

On the morning of June 5, Mr. Va Ba Tinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhon Mai commune (Tuong Duong district, Nghe An province) said that heavy rain occurred in the area again, causing serious landslides and traffic congestion.

On the night of June 4, heavy rain in Nhon Mai commune caused landslides in many places.

According to incomplete surveys and statistics, heavy rains have caused 6 severe landslides. In particular, on National Highway 16, through Co Ha village (Nhon Mai commune), heavy rains caused the road surface to break for dozens of meters, and part of the road surface collapsed into the river. This incident caused traffic on the main road between Que Phong and Tuong Duong districts to be cut off.

Mr. Va Ba Tinh added that the commune and district have sent forces to stand guard at the two landslide sites, warning people not to cross; at the same time, mobilizing forces to help people overcome the consequences caused by heavy rain.

Previously, due to prolonged heavy rain, on the night of May 29, in Nhon Mai commune, flash floods also occurred, causing 3 houses to be swept away, 18 houses to be severely damaged by rocks and soil, dozens of hectares of rice were destroyed, and many livestock and poultry were swept away.
