Temporary dam will be built on Quang Hue River (Dai Loc)

Accordingly, Quang Nam requested the People's Committee of Da Nang City to pay attention to directing the assigned investor to organize the preparation of documents and procedures for temporary dam construction on Quang Hue River in accordance with regulations. Monitor the water situation on Vu Gia and Quang Hue Rivers to determine the appropriate temporary dam crest elevation, ensuring the regulation of part of the water downstream of the temporary dam to serve daily life and agricultural production. Coordinate with relevant sectors and localities of Quang Nam province to provide information and plans for implementing temporary dam construction. Manage and operate temporary dams and promptly handle incidents (if any) during the operation and dismantling of temporary dams before the rainy and flood season.

The Provincial People's Committee requested the Da Nang Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited to coordinate with the Quang Nam Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited to monitor the water level on the Vu Gia River to operate the dams of the An Trach irrigation system to ensure the safety of the temporary dam and effective use of water resources.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Nam province is requested to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Da Nang city and related sectors, units and localities to monitor and supervise the temporary dam construction work on Quang Hue river, promptly report to the People's Committee of Quang Nam province and the People's Committee of Da Nang city to monitor, direct and handle arising issues (if any). In addition, coordinate with related agencies and units to advise the Provincial People's Committee to propose the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to consider and promptly organize an assessment of the changes in the Vu Gia and Quang Hue riverbeds to have appropriate solutions for water resource regulation and Quang Hue river adjustment works and arrange funds from the central budget to organize implementation.

It is known that this document of Quang Nam responded to the request of the People's Committee of Da Nang City (according to Official Dispatch No. 1051 dated February 29, 2024) on building a temporary dam on the Quang Hue River in 2024 to increase the water flow to the downstream of the Vu Gia River; according to the request of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Nam province (Report No. 133 dated April 15, 2024 with the Minutes of the meeting dated April 10, 2024 of the Standing Working Group of the Coordination Board of the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River Basin and the coastal area of Quang Nam - Da Nang).
