The Hanoi Department of Education and Training plans to propose to the City People's Committee to organize the 10th grade entrance exam at the end of June 2026, after the high school graduation exam.
Regarding this issue, speaking with VNexpress, a representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that this is based on the school year plan framework of the Ministry of Education and Training , in which the 2026 high school graduation exam is scheduled for June 11-12.
In previous years, Hanoi usually held the public 10th grade exam in the second week of June.
According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, if the old schedule is kept, the two exams may overlap or take place close together. If the exam is held in early June, students will not have time to review, because the school year ends on May 31.
Meanwhile, both exams have a scale of over 100,000 candidates. Therefore, to ensure conditions regarding personnel, location..., the Department plans to hold the 10th grade exam later than every year.
The representative of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that they will carefully study and calculate to advise the City People's Committee to issue a specific, suitable and convenient plan for students. Therefore, parents should not worry too much about the exam time, if their children are really well prepared. It is important that students have a review plan, a stable mentality and the support of their families. Instead of putting pressure on their children, parents can accompany, support and encourage them.
In 2025, the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi took place on June 7-8 with nearly 103,000 candidates - the largest in the country. About 64% of students had places in public schools, equivalent to more than 81,000 students. Compared to previous years, the number of candidates taking the exam decreased, while the passing rate increased.
