On November 6, in Dong Thap, the Institute for Enterprise Development - Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with the Representative Office of the National Office of Intellectual Property in Ho Chi Minh City; the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Thap province and Vietnam Anti-Counterfeiting Technology Joint Stock Company (ACTIV) organized a training conference with the theme "Intellectual property and anti-counterfeiting technology - protecting businesses, protecting consumers".
Speaking at the event, Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Deputy Director of the Institute for Enterprise Development - Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry , said that registering for intellectual property protection not only helps businesses establish legal ownership of their intellectual property, but also creates an important legal foundation to protect brands and handle infringements.
Established intellectual property rights help clearly distinguish genuine products from counterfeit and fake goods, support management agencies in inspection and supervision, and help businesses maintain their reputation, strengthen customer confidence and increase competitiveness in the market.
Sharing about the management and exploitation of intellectual property in Vietnam, Mr. Tran Giang Khue, Director of the Office of the Intellectual Property Office in Ho Chi Minh City, said that currently, many businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, still consider intellectual property as a secondary legal issue, only related to trademark registration when necessary, without realizing that intellectual property is an intangible asset with great economic value, sometimes even greater than tangible assets.
In addition, intellectual property management activities in many enterprises are not strategic and systematic. The identification, protection, maintenance and development of intellectual property are often spontaneous or reactive when disputes arise, lacking initiative. Therefore, to improve the effectiveness of intellectual property management and exploitation, Vietnamese enterprises need to change their thinking, consider intellectual property as a strategic asset and invest resources in this work in a more systematic and professional manner.
Sharing about intellectual property, innovation and digital transformation activities in Dong Thap, Mr. Phan Vinh Quang, Head of Technology and Innovation Department, Department of Science and Technology of Dong Thap province, said that Dong Thap is well aware of the role of intellectual property in elevating local products, especially OCOP products (One Commune One Product Program).
The province has been actively building, managing and developing brands and geographical indications for key products such as Cao Lanh mango, Dong Thap lotus... to affirm its competitive advantage in the market.

Intellectual property, innovation and digital transformation activities are taking place strongly, receiving special attention from provincial leaders, in order to promote socio-economic development based on science and technology. The province has achieved many outstanding results, especially in the field of agriculture, with many production models applying high technology, automation, and traceability having been effectively implemented, contributing to improving productivity and quality of agricultural products.
Assessing the current situation of product traceability in Vietnam, Mr. Pham Van Tho, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Anti-Counterfeiting Technology Joint Stock Company (ACTIV) shared that at present, Vietnamese businesses and consumers are strongly developing in terms of awareness and application of technology, especially in the context of widespread counterfeit and fake goods and increasingly high demands from the market.
Through this training conference, Vietnam Anti-Counterfeiting Technology Joint Stock Company introduced the traceability solution using TrueData electronic chip stamps - simultaneously applying 3 core technologies: RFID, AI and Blockchain. The solution has attracted special attention from the business community and management agencies.
Truedata meets the requirements for product and goods traceability management according to Circular No. 02 of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Government regulations, in line with the increasingly stringent requirements for quality control and export tracing in international markets. With the ability to retrieve information with just one touch via smartphones with integrated near-field communication technology (NFC), consumers and authorities can look up product data quickly, accurately and transparently.
Within the framework of the training session, Vietnam Anti-Counterfeiting Technology Joint Stock Company officially launched its Representative Office in Dong Thap province. The Representative Office is expected to become a technological bridge between businesses, management agencies and consumers, contributing to putting anti-counterfeiting solutions into practice, protecting legitimate rights and enhancing market confidence in the Mekong Delta region.
