Department of Health warns of discovery of 7 fake drugs and drugs of unknown origin

The Department of Health has just issued Official Dispatch 1849/SYT to notify about counterfeit drugs, drugs of unknown origin and handling of violations.

Specifically, all 7 samples of counterfeit drugs and drugs of unknown origin were tested for quality at Duc Anh Pharmacy under Duc Anh Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Company Limited (No. 8, Huynh Thuc Khang Street (extended), Lang Thuong, Dong Da District, Hanoi) and did not have information on the Circulation Registration Certificate number or Import License number; information on the drug manufacturing facility or drug importing facility.

7 drug samples, including: DIAMICRON ® MR 60mg (Gliklazid), batch number: 23F603, expiry date: 4/2026; Oseltamivir; batch number M1164B01, manufactured in 3/2021, expiry date 3/2023; Crestor 20mg (Rosuvastatin), batch number A23237030, expiry date 4/2026; Janumet 50/1000mg (Sitagliptin/Metformin), batch number: 24497505A, expiry date 7/2026; Plavix (Klopidogrel), batch number ELB04027, expiry date 5/2027; NEXIUM® 40mg Enterik Kapli Pellet Tablet (Esomeprazole), batch number 23H420, expiry date 9/2027; Crestor 10mg (Rosuvastatin) medicine, batch number A24236004, expiry date 7/2027.

The Department of Health recommends that units, localities, and the Provincial Drug, Cosmetic and Food Testing Center widely inform drug trading and using establishments and people not to buy/sell or use the 7 batches of products above. Only buy and sell drugs at legal pharmaceutical businesses and do not buy/sell drugs of unknown origin. Promptly report any suspicious signs of production and trading of counterfeit drugs or drugs of unknown origin to the authorities.

At the same time, strengthen inspection of business activities of pharmaceutical establishments, especially focusing on inspection of these 7 batches of products. When detected, it is necessary to verify information, report to the Provincial Steering Committee 389 and coordinate to trace the origin and strictly handle violations. Manufacturing - trading, importing and distributing companies related to these products immediately stop distributing and circulating and notify the establishments that purchased the drugs to stop distributing, using and returning them to the supplier. At the same time, provide information and coordinate to trace the origin.
