Spotify tests music video support

According to GadgetMatch , before streaming music services like SoundCloud, Spotify, or Apple Music were widely available, one of the most popular ways to listen to music was to loop music videos on YouTube. Then, the emergence of streaming apps made many people lose interest in music videos.

Now, Spotify wants to bring them back. The music streaming service is rolling out music videos to its extensive music library, starting with a limited number of countries.

Spotify is rolling out music videos

Spotify is currently testing music videos in its beta program. Users can listen to their favorite songs in audio or video format. The new feature is currently being tested in 11 countries, including the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Kenya.

To watch a music video, users can start listening to the selected song and select the 'Switch to Video' button to switch. Conversely, users can switch to listening to just the audio by selecting 'Switch to Audio'.

Since the program is still in beta, only a limited number of songs are available to watch as videos. Spotify hopes to increase both the number of songs and the countries available soon after this initial testing phase.

Spotify has been experimenting with different music-related features over the years. For example, a recent update could offer tickets to live events right from the app.
