According to People's Artist Ta Minh Tam, today's singers must be aware of the responsibility of preserving the "soul" of revolutionary music, following the previous generation in expressing this music with their creativity and passion.

Reporter: Songs associated with a heroic period of the nation are spreading strongly among young people, many singers have sung with the hope of bringing a new breath to revolutionary music. What do you think about this trend?

- People's Artist TA MINH TAM: New directions in artistic creation are all recognized. Of course, new things always cause controversy, especially with spiritual food like music .

The first thing that needs to be affirmed is the new vitality of the "red music" genre. Amidst the waves of K-pop, hip hop, and dance music that are popular and stirring, there are still many young singers quietly and persistently pursuing revolutionary music. They proudly express their patriotism as well as preserve the memories of their fathers' generation who have gone through many sacrifices and losses.

Many people have thought of ways to renew this music genre, which seemed difficult to accept, but the public has warmly welcomed it. Singers such as My Linh, Thanh Lam, Hong Nhung, Tran Thu Ha, Tung Duong, Duc Tuan, Trong Tan... have tried for many years to revive "red music" with a youthful but no less profound style. Many youthful but also very majestic expressions are performed through the voices of Anh Tho, Dang Duong, Viet Hoan...

In your opinion, how should this trend be oriented? What should managers do to sustain this strong flow?

- Recently, many revolutionary songs have appeared on TV game shows, performed well by young singers. During the country's major holidays, many singers have released albums and MVs of revolutionary music.

I think there should be training courses and organizing writing camps on revolutionary songs for young musicians to participate in.

It is true that innovation is completely different from the strong and majestic way of singing "red music" that the public has felt. Does innovation need the support of many "midwives"?

- Every art form needs a "midwife" to develop its strengths. From my own experience - having grown up in revolutionary music, I always accompany young singers and musicians and help them confidently express their innovation. Of course, we must be very careful and moderate in our "innovation". How to sing in a way that is both hearty and soft, full of lyricism, creating a unique style for the singer is always expected.

How should young musicians today invest in composing, mixing, and arranging to be able to renew revolutionary music?

- Nowadays, many young musicians have used traditional instruments with flutes, zithers, monochords, and pipas as the main instruments. New compositions therefore have their own unique colors, touching the hearts of listeners with love for the country and people.

For example, in the annual Mai Vang program of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, musician Dat Kim is the arranger who makes the songs stand out when he blends the tones between Eastern and Western instruments. When invited to perform, I try to keep the original enthusiasm but bring a contemporary breath through those creative harmonies and arrangements so that the audience coming to the Mai Vang Awards ceremony will not feel bored.

The way young singers remix and arrange music in order to renew "red music" needs to be recognized by the public and experts if those creations are truly sophisticated and suitable for each theme of the program honoring revolutionary songs. They will continue our generation to sing loudly about the melodies of the Fatherland that have forever resonated in the hearts of the public.
