Introduction: A young girl from the Bo Y ethnic group in Thanh Binh commune, Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province, is delighted to be dressed in new clothes by her grandmothers and mothers in preparation for a festival. The Bo Y are the only ethnic minority group in Lao Cai with fewer than 10,000 people, so they meticulously and carefully preserve and pass on their traditional culture. For them, traditional clothing is a precious and indispensable part of their ethnic identity, especially during festivals and holidays.
