Mr. Do Ngoc Kien from Yen Phu village, Xuan Ai commune, was admitted to Van Yen Regional Medical Center for appendicitis. After three days of treatment, his health has stabilized. Mr. Kien said: “This is the first time I have been hospitalized for treatment. From the reception to the surgery, post-operative care, the doctors, nurses and medical staff have served me very enthusiastically, thoughtfully and cheerfully. I can only say that I am truly satisfied!”
The sharing of Mr. Do Ngoc Kien as well as many other patients is a great source of spiritual encouragement for the staff, physicians, medical staff in general, and the nursing team in particular of the Center to have more motivation to complete their tasks well.

Currently, the Center has 73 nurses. Compared to actual needs and the staffing plan, this team is still nearly half short.
Specialist Nurse I Le Thi Phi Phuong - Head of Nursing Department shared: “According to the regulations of the Ministry of Health , the nurse/doctor ratio is 3.0, while the actual ratio at the Center is currently 1.55. Despite the shortage, we have adjusted our human resources to ensure smooth work. The nursing team always tries to overcome all difficulties, perform well the assigned tasks, and make an important contribution to the unit's task performance process.”
In addition, the nursing team also takes on many other tasks when the Center has a large number of patients such as: receiving patients, lending supplies, participating in the Emergency Team of the external hospital...

Improving professional qualifications, nursing professional activities and training are given attention. Every day, there is a morning meeting between the head nurses of the departments about the situation of patient care, facilities, and work assignment to regulate activities in each department and between departments.
Every week, the departments organize Patient Council activities. Every month, the Center organizes Patient Council activities and integrates health education communication. This activity aims to promote patient ownership, grasp the patient's thoughts and wishes in order to make timely adjustments and serve the patient best. In addition, the departments regularly organize medical record review activities to exchange, learn experiences, and improve professional knowledge.
The Department of Emergency - Intensive Care and Anti-Poison is one of the departments with a large workload of the Center. With 16 existing nurses, the Department is lacking about 5 nurses according to regulations. Therefore, it is necessary to have a suitable plan to arrange and regulate work, ensuring human resources to best meet daily tasks. To improve the professional qualifications of the team, the Department organizes a common professional meeting to review medical records every week. Particularly for the nursing team, there is 1 care review session every month.
Bachelor of Nursing Vu Thi Nhan - Head Nurse of the Department said: "Along with activities to improve professional qualifications, the Department of Emergency - Intensive Care and Anti-Poison also strengthens inspection work according to monthly and quarterly plans and goes to the light room to monitor medical orders."

The center also focuses on strengthening the inspection and supervision of nursing professional activities on a regular and ad hoc basis; has a checklist, evaluates medical records, and classifies.
Every year, the Nursing Association of Van Yen Regional Medical Center evaluates, classifies and votes for outstanding nurses. One of the important goals is to improve the training level of the nursing staff.
Head of Nursing Department Le Thi Phi Phuong added: “Currently, 100% of nurses, midwives, and technicians at the Center have college degrees or higher. According to the plan, the unit strives to have over 90% of nurses, midwives, and technicians have university degrees by 2030. To achieve this goal, the Center always creates the most favorable conditions for staff to study.”
With the attention and support of the Board of Directors, the close and effective coordination of departments and offices, especially the spirit of effort, responsibility and dedicated care of the nursing team, patients are satisfied and increasingly trust.
According to the survey results for the first 9 months of this year, for Van Yen Regional Medical Center, the satisfaction rate of inpatients reached 99.53%, of outpatients reached 98.17% and of medical staff reached 97.54%.
