Báo Trà VinhBáo Trà Vinh20/07/2023

Concentrated poultry farming is being applied by many farmers, contributing to flock management and effective implementation of disease prevention and control solutions (free-range chicken farming model of farmer Huynh Van Sa, Soc Thac hamlet, Nguyet Hoa commune, Chau Thanh district).

On June 9, 2023, Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Trung Hoang signed Official Dispatch No. 2407/UBND-NN on the implementation of Official Dispatch No. 3665/BNN-TY, dated June 6, 2023 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on strengthening the management of quarantine, transportation, and slaughter of animals, ensuring veterinary hygiene. Thereby, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tra Vinh province, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the province have implemented many solutions in the control of transportation, management of livestock herds...

Comrade Ngo Duc Thanh, Head of the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, said: Currently, in the province, the situation of African swine fever, lumpy skin disease, mouth and mouth disease, avian influenza, etc. is basically stable and well controlled. The unit has implemented the industry's plans since the beginning of 2023 on vaccination; herd management and control of slaughter and transportation of animal products. For the control stations in Cang Long, Tra Met (Cau Ke district), Co Chien (Cang Long district), etc., 24/7 on-duty posts have been increased.

Regarding the management and supervision of poultry flocks in Cau Ke and Tra Cu districts, the disease situation is generally well controlled. Through the mobilization of farmers (with large flocks: poultry of 500 or more; pig herds of 10 or more...) to register and fully vaccinate according to the regulations of the Veterinary sector.

First 6 months of 2023: 1.38 million birds vaccinated against avian influenza (23.382% of the plan); 121,827 birds vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease (28.05% of the plan), of which 52.76% of the plan was for cattle; 7,604 birds vaccinated against lumpy skin disease (4.13% of the plan); 212 birds vaccinated against African swine fever. Vaccination against other diseases in livestock (blue ear, E.coli, Mycoplasma, Parvo, Ca-re) and in poultry (cholera, septicemia, Newcastle, Gumboro, chickenpox, Marek's disease) with over 1.73 million birds.

Quarantine of animals and animal products imported and exported from the province was carried out for 75,279 pigs; 15,730 buffaloes and cows; 278,691 tons of animal products and 990,621 poultry (of which, exported from the province were 58,807 pigs; 15,730 buffaloes and cows; 161,674 tons of animal products; 270,670 poultry. Imported from the province: 16,472 pigs, 117,017 tons of animal products; 719,951 poultry).

Comrade Thach Thi Hon, Head of the Tra Cu District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station, said: The district has about 800,000 poultry, however, most of them are raised on a small scale (accounting for over 80% of the total herd), the remaining 20% have a scale of raising 200 poultry or more. The situation of transporting poultry from outside the province, especially from Soc Trang province, is no longer; the amount of poultry and livestock is mainly transported between districts within the province; therefore, the pressure of disease from outside is minimized. In poultry slaughter, it is mainly concentrated at the district market with a quantity of about 400 birds/day and in the commune market areas, fluctuating from 30 - 50 birds/day.

Information from the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine on the work of collecting samples to monitor the circulation of viruses causing diseases in poultry and livestock; accordingly, for lumpy skin disease, 20/20 pooled samples were collected from 20 cattle-raising households, the results were negative for lumpy skin disease virus; foot-and-mouth disease: 20/20 pooled samples from 20 cattle-raising households, the results were negative for foot-and-mouth disease virus. Particularly, 124 samples of avian influenza at market points in Cang Long, Tieu Can, Tra Cu, Chau Thanh, Cau Ngang districts and Tra Vinh city; the results showed that 06/124 samples were positive for H5N1 avian influenza virus.

It can be said that the awareness of livestock farmers is now basically raised through the propaganda work of grassroots veterinarians. Since then, the implementation of socialization in vaccination with the number of households participating in livestock farming is increasing. For poultry, vaccination of flocks of 50 - 500 birds (households pay for vaccines, the State supports vaccination costs) has vaccinated 2,670 poultry/12 households; socialized vaccination (flocks of 500 or more): 132,500 poultry/30 households, reaching 18% of the assigned target. Vaccination against foot and mouth disease has vaccinated 8,625 cattle/2,252 households (cattle herds reached 71.32% of the assigned target; pigs reached 23.3% of the assigned target); of which, 50% of the vaccines were free for 8,450 cattle/2,229 households; Socialized vaccination of 175 cows.

Comrade Su Thanh Truc, Head of the Livestock and Veterinary Station of Cau Ke district, shared: Currently, the number of poultry farming households aiming for large-scale, concentrated poultry farming and building barns in Cau Ke district is quite high, thanks to which the management of flocks and registration for vaccination are convenient.
