Remembering Uncle Ho's words, Yen Dinh successfully built an advanced new rural district.

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - In 2015, when the new rural development program nationwide was just entering the acceleration phase, Yen Dinh became the first district in Thanh Hoa province and the North Central region to meet the new rural standards. That achievement continued to be multiplied when at the end of 2024, the Prime Minister issued a decision to recognize the district as meeting the advanced new rural standards. Throughout the implementation process, the government and people here always kept in mind Uncle Ho's words when he visited the locality, becoming a great motivation for everyone to join hands to strive.

Remembering Uncle Ho's words, Yen Dinh successfully built an advanced new rural district.

Historical Site of the place where Uncle Ho was welcomed to visit Yen Truong Agricultural Cooperative.

Located in the middle of the yard, right in front of the main entrance of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Museum, is a display of a large tractor. This is the tractor that Uncle Ho gave to the people of Yen Truong commune as well as Yen Dinh district after his visit.

Returning to the important event for the government and people of Yen Dinh district, more than 60 years ago, on December 11, 1961, during his 4th visit to Thanh Hoa, Uncle Ho visited and spoke in Yen Truong commune. At that time, Yen Truong agricultural cooperative of Yen Dinh district was one of the typical units in developing collective economy , operating effectively in the North. According to documents of the commune as well as Yen Dinh district, Uncle Ho spoke with the cooperative members and more than 10,000 compatriots and cadres from many communes in the district gathered here.

During the conversation, Uncle Ho praised and commended the achievements in agricultural production and economic development of the commune. He advised the local government and people to "compete in increasing production and practicing thrift, and properly performing all tasks assigned by the Party and the Government". With Yen Truong Agricultural Cooperative, Uncle Ho requested that "Regarding finance, it must be public and transparent, the books must be clear, and the revenue and expenditure must be clearly reported to the members. Unpublicized finance will affect the internal solidarity of the cooperative"... Uncle Ho also spent a lot of time asking about the "three readiness" movement of the youth union. All must "Actively promote advantages, strive to correct shortcomings to progress, contribute to building socialism", "make the whole population, old and young, men and women, well-fed, well-clothed, educated, and also make life completely full, happy and joyful"...

Remembering Uncle Ho's teachings, over the past 60 years, the government and people of Yen Truong have always strived to develop the economy and society, building the homeland to become stronger and richer. Uncle Ho's wishes are also the orientation that the criteria of the National Target Program on New Rural Development aim for, so they have become the "compass" for implementation.

That was affirmed by Chairman of Yen Truong Commune People's Committee Bui Thanh Hai: “Uncle Ho advised: Rural areas must develop comprehensively, farmers' material and spiritual lives must be improved, culture must progress, the environment must be clean and beautiful. Uncle Ho's advice, though simple but profound, has become a guiding principle in the journey of building new rural areas, advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas that the commune is implementing. Throughout the process, each cadre, party member and Yen Truong people have increasingly imbued Uncle Ho's thoughts, determined to carry out well the key points: developing production associated with environmental protection; improving people's quality of life; preserving and promoting the cultural values of the homeland; consolidating a strong political system from the grassroots. The Party Committee, government and Yen Truong people always keep in mind Uncle Ho's teachings to join hands and unite to build model new rural areas, worthy of Uncle Ho's affection and trust when he visited”.

According to Mr. Bui Thanh Hai, “In the commune, there is a memorial site which is also a relic of Uncle Ho's visit, which has been invested in by the province and the cultural sector. Regularly, the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune still organize many big events here so that cadres and people can see the glory and promote their responsibilities. Particularly in implementing programs and tasks of building new rural areas, the commune often mentions and attaches to the implementation of Uncle Ho's teachings, thereby arousing the spirit of pride and promoting the initiative of cadres and people in implementing the criteria."

To date, Yen Truong has become an advanced NTM commune and is on the way to the model NTM finish line. Yen Truong is a typical example of Yen Dinh district in terms of developing infrastructure systems with spacious schools, wide roads, agricultural production as well as strongly developed trade and services... There are few plain communes in the province that currently have 84 enterprises, more than 600 individual business households, a system of restaurants, supermarkets, markets... to become a regional trade and service center like Yen Truong. In agriculture, the production value of the commune has reached nearly 200 million VND/ha of cultivated land, 3 OCOP products, 106 farms and ranches, including 18 large farms according to the criteria of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), linked in production and product consumption with large enterprises such as: CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company, JaFa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd....

Uncle Ho's teachings are not only for Yen Truong commune, but also for the government and people of Yen Dinh district as well as Thanh Hoa province. In the roadmap for building a new rural area, the district has turned Uncle Ho's teachings into a great source of encouragement and motivation for implementation. In the period of building an advanced new rural area (2016-2024) alone, the whole district has mobilized a total resource of nearly 13,900 billion VND to implement the criteria set. In addition to socio-economic development programs, the district has invested in and put into use 806 public infrastructure works according to the new rural area criteria. Yen Dinh is also always considered one of the typical examples of Thanh Hoa province in developing agriculture in a modern direction, strengthening linkages. Of the total 22 communes in the district, 50% have met the advanced new rural area standards, 13.6% of the communes have met the model new rural area standards.

The transportation system of Yen Dinh has been completed for many years. Not counting the 4 towns of Quan Lao, Yen Lam, Quy Loc and Thong Nhat, 100% of the inter-commune roads, communal roads, inter-village roads, village axes and alleys of 22 communes in the area have been donated land for expansion and hardening. Cultural facilities have been invested in a systematic and modern manner from the district level to each village. From there, the cultural and sports movement has been widely developed, improving the spiritual life of the people.

Up to now, the average income per capita in 22 rural communes of the district has reached nearly 72 million VND/person/year. Along with a spacious, modern infrastructure system and sustainable criteria, on November 7, 2024, the Prime Minister issued a decision to recognize Yen Dinh district as meeting advanced NTM standards. With modern infrastructure, it will be a solid foundation for the development of new communes after the merger of Yen Dinh.
