Building a green, clean, beautiful and safe living environment

The Fatherland Front of Nhu Thanh district launched a model of an environmental protection residential area and organized households to sign a commitment to classify waste at home.

In 2022, the Phu Nhuan Commune Fatherland Front Committee selected Thanh Son village as a pilot to implement a self-management model on environmental protection. To implement the model, the village front working committee closely coordinated with the village executive committee and mass organizations in maintaining environmental hygiene. At the same time, actively propagated and mobilized people to understand the importance, necessity and urgency of protecting the environment, so that people could discuss and agree to issue a common resolution of the village. After that, the mass organizations and households signed a commitment to maintain environmental hygiene.

Up to now, the whole village has installed 180 light bulbs on the traffic routes; cleared and regularly planted and cared for 1.3km of flower roads to replace weeds, and planted 150 shade trees. The rate of households collecting waste centrally reached 100%. In addition, the village front committee has mobilized union members, association members and people to manage their children well and not participate in social evils. In the village, there is 1 security and order team and 14 social security teams that regularly operate effectively...

Mr. Le Van Khanh, Party cell secretary and head of Thanh Son village, Phu Nhuan commune, said: "Maintaining the effectiveness of the bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe environmental protection model has contributed to raising awareness and sense of responsibility of local people, contributing to the implementation of a civilized rural and urban lifestyle as well as new rural development in the locality."

Promoting the role of the Fatherland Front and the Front working committee in residential areas in propagating and mobilizing people to respond to the implementation of the New Rural Construction program, creating a bright, green, clean and beautiful landscape and environment, contributing to building a commune that meets the advanced New Rural Construction standard and a village that meets the model New Rural Construction standard, Phu Nhuan commune has built a model of "Bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe residential area" in 3/12 villages. 12/12 villages have built and implemented well the model of "Self-managed residential area for environmental protection"... At the same time, implementing the "Green Sunday" movement, promoting socialized activities to protect the environment, not dumping waste and garbage into rivers, streams, ponds, lakes, village roads...

Ms. Le Thi Duyen, Chairwoman of the Phu Nhuan Commune Fatherland Front Committee, said: “The model has spread to many residential areas in the commune, becoming a mass movement, helping to change the awareness of Party committees, authorities and people in residential areas in maintaining environmental hygiene, contributing to improving the quality of people's lives. The construction of self-management models for environmental protection has made an important contribution to raising awareness and changing people's behavior in a positive direction in maintaining environmental hygiene; wastewater and garbage are treated in accordance with regulations.

The Fatherland Front of Nhu Thanh district organized training for members of the model's executive board on related knowledge. The executive board organized for each household in the residential area to sign a commitment, classify waste at home before bringing it to the collection point, and maintain regular monthly cleaning campaigns. Through the implementation of the model, it has contributed to creating a bright, green, clean, and beautiful landscape for village roads and alleys, raising awareness and responsibility of each individual and organization in environmental protection. Since then, most households have enthusiastically and actively planted and protected trees in residential areas; limited the use of plastic bags when storing food; raised livestock and poultry hygienically; did not litter indiscriminately, collected waste at home; actively participated in cleaning up village roads, alleys, and public areas, and did not encroach on sidewalks and roadsides...

In 2024, the Fatherland Front from the district to the grassroots level coordinated to launch 17 models. Of which, there are 12 models of "Self-managed residential areas for environmental protection", 4 models of "Bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe" residential areas, and 1 model of "Self-managed food hygiene and safety" residential area.

Mr. Trinh Xuan Phong, Vice Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Nhu Thanh district said: ''To maintain and develop the models, the work of surveying and evaluating the current status of the models' operations is also regularly carried out by the Fatherland Front. Regularly organizing experience exchange activities, introducing good and effective practices on the radio system to replicate in residential areas. At the same time, typical collectives and individuals participating in the self-management model are commended on the occasion of summarizing the work of the Front, during the annual National Great Unity Day''.
